Yes. This is a complex question though. There is so sin that can't be forgiven ( through the Sacrament of Reconciliation) of course. Jesus loves us so much that he died for ALL of us...even the atheists! lol ( I know they mock at us for saying that)
Jesus came to earth to suffer and die for us. THAT'S HOW MUCH HE LOVES US! Christ came here for the sinners of the world....He wants us to repent and pick up our own cross in life and follow him. Is God gentle, yes, I think so. He has unconditional love for us. That's gentle right. Call to God and talk to him, He will take care of you and your needs. Jesus, I trust in You.
God Bless!

We were created in God's image and are certainly capable of being gentle.

I believe that God is POWERFUL, powerful enough to be anything, according to whatever is called for. Gentleness is certainly called for in many circumstances.

But God can also be very stern, as He is NOT wishy washy, and understands His own creation as it is after all, HIS. I see Him as the epitome of FAIRNESS, and so would know best when to be gentle, to show mercy, and when to discipline, to even destroy His own creation if He thought it best.

So I believe He is many things, gentle included but not ONLY that.

Just look at a father soothing a child with a scrape, a rich man bending low enough to help someone on the street, or a child, holding a parent's hand as they prepare to exit this life and try to see God as NOT gentle.

Yeah, I do believe....

It depends on how you see the whole scheme of things. The Lord is the Ultimate Creator, who has allowed a span of things to exist, from the most intense of pains to the most pleasureable experiences. The heights of joys to the depths of sorrows. The expanses of time and space. Indeed He is a Creator who has allowed everything possible to be created, in all its splendor.

This creativity has its consequences and the Drama of existence has its ups and downs. Nature is a great exacter of justice, laced with mercy!! An animal that "kills" grass through its existence, someday is killed to feed a higher being. If there were only Bambis in the forest, then the whole dimension of wolves, wild dogs and the large felines would be cut out.

The Lord Almighty is ultimately fair and merciful in my belief. He knew what was possible and let everything come into being and allowed freedom in ways that would enhance what He created.

Had Abraham not been given a son so late in life, and asked to give him up, we would have never fathomed that humans are capable of such obedience!! Had Husain, the son of Ali (who was the heir of the Prophet) was not confronted with a large Muslim force bent upon distorting Islam representing looting, abuse and force, and killed along with the family of the Prophet, the World would not have learnt about the two Islams that came into existence right after the Prophet of Islam.

One representing the rulers and the amassers of wealth and power, and the other wanting to protect the weak and bring justice to the World.

Thus everything that happens, does happen under some logic and for a reason. Either it is the laws of justice or to allow very special men/women to display their prowess and set an example for all of us to show what is possible in the human drama or in nature.

Moses and Pharoah are the other very powerful drama that played out on the Earth. Most men in Moses' shoes would not even think of the slaves toiling in the heat and would have just enjoyed the comforts of the Palace. But the Lord Almighty showed that there are special men created time and again who are an amazing mixture of contrasts carried within their person... extremes of compassion and resolve.

I hope some of this makes sense and answers your question in an oblique manner.

I believe that God cares for his children much like a human parent does. He is gentle when gentleness is needed. He is tough when toughness is needed.

To those who refuse His Son Jesus and the work accomplished on the cross, He will be God, the righteous Judge and not very gentle at all.

I am not sure that I have enough accurate information on Gods true nature to to answer this question simply. I believe God is God and our perception of him has been completely distorted. Even the disciples that walked, ate, traveled, learned, witnessed, and loved the Christ directly did not get the meaning until he opened their mind just prior to his ascension. Luke 24:45

Men have butchered his nature to their personal advantage since the beginning of recorded history. I need to leave a great deal of room for not understanding very much about God and his nature, for me.

Gentle yes, but that doesn't mean that He doesn't have to kill off people once in awhile. Life isn't fair because there has to be death. But if we had no death and only the same people roaming the earth forever, then life would get really crowded and horribly boring for those that had to live forever.

Just because God has to kill of people doesn't mean that He's not gentle. And when there are bits of unkindness that Man does to Man, He can't strike them down with a bolt of lightning because there might be some better use for the person in the future if he were to learn from his mistakes and go on to preach to others the art of being kind. You just never know what plans He has in store for all of us, so it's not like you have to live by the eye-for-an-eye deal.

Only to the same extent that I believe the Easter Bunny is Czech.

I don't care to believe anything on the matter. I would much rather know if there is anything TO know on the subject. For that to happen, such a claim would have to be based on a natural observation, not cult literature. To date, there is no evidence in the observable world that there is such a being, let alone, what his temperament is like.

I believe God is a just God. Gentle has nothing to do with it.

God CAN be a gentle God. Just make peace with Him, and the relationship changes.
