My back yard is the woods... I like to sit on my back porch and contemplate the greenery and I pray. That's my altar.

Peace!

When we bought 17 acres in the country, one of the first things I did was to search the woods for a prayer garden. I wanted to build it myself, nothing real elaborate or expensive, but just a place where I could go to be alone, and speak to God and allow Him to speak to me through the scriptures. We have lived there for 12 years and each time I think I have found the ideal spot, I find another I like better. I am 71 years old and not as agile as I was 12 years ago, but I often wander in the woods communing with God and nature. The sounds of the world seem so far away and God is so close, as I see Him everywhere I look. So, the one place I was looking for has turned into several places that seem to change from day to day. Isn't God great?

I don't really have an altar; I figure anywhere and anytime is good. I DO like to go to one particular spot in the foothills about half and hour away; I just feel more "centered" I guess is the word.

Well, I do have an inside altar...an amalgamation of sacred stones (sacred to me) and other natural object that I have accumulated on my various travels. As well as the essential hand-crafted items...but the funny thing is, is it's become sort-of-a museum! My true altar is inside now, I have seemingly absorbed the properties of those "Elements and WHAT THEY MEANT TO ME!" ANYWAY GOTTA GO ..have a nice day...-H.L.-
