There are many things besides dry skin and fleas that can cause itching. Parasites like mange for instance. Just get her a routine checkup and mention the itching. A good vet will give you better advice than a bunch of yahoos on Yahoo.

I have to comment on a comment, most dogs are allergic to corn, corn oil would not be a good way to help them. I do however have something I would like to offer you with a money back guarantee. There is a supplement that has been on the market for 14 years and took 8 years to develop by 3 holistic vets and a nutritional scientist. It eliminates and prevents allergies, which is likely what your friend is suffering from, arthritis, tumors, tear stains, digestive issues, about 50 cancers, it has even rehabilitated blind and deaf dogs. All natural, human grade, water soluble, no sugars, fillers, or preservatives. Bottom line, it works and if it doesn't you get your money back, ask your vet for your money back when the drugs don't work. If you want to learn more about it, my page is below with all of the info.

Have you changed her shampoo? Washed her bed blankets in new detergent? Could be a skin allergy. Dry skin will do this too. Had a terrier who scratched her fur off her hind end due to allergies. Try Castor oil in the dog food. That does great things for the fur. If no improvement in a week or so, take her to the vet. Maybe a vet prescribed antihistamine.

Could be anything. Allergies, dry skin, common eczema, nerves, hot spots, bug bite with no fleas. There are oils out there to add to the food if the dog has really dry skin. Then again the best is to take the dog to the vet. Dog's coats change about every five years and their needs need to be readjusted to accomodate the change for their comfort and appearance.

It might be a minor skin problem. As long as there is not any hair loss you might want to try adding fish oil to her food. They sell fish oil tablets in places like PetsMart and on-line. My lab pit bull mix has minor some skin problems and as long as I give her the fish oil tablets then she is completely fine. It will take a several of weeks to see full results.
If you see hair loss then I would definitely go to a vet and ask first. It still might be the same problem, but you would want to rule out several other things first.

It could be allergies or dry skin. Have you taken her to a veterinarian? Your vet should be able to tell you the cause of her discomfort, and prescribe medication or recommend a course of treatment.

You will need to take her to a vet. They will examine her and possibly do some skin scrapes. They will be able to tell you in no time exactly what it is that is bothering her. Good Luck!!

She probobly has allergies. I suggest switching to some more natural feed, and have your dog take some omega 3 capsules, and/or salmon oil.

Your dog may have dry skin. Try bathing your dog with aloe shampoo. You can find it at your vet.
