Is the Catholic Church mentioned in
Revelations as the anti Christ? I mean the word Catholic

Get ready for loads of scripture quotations to "prove" their case. It gets pretty ridiculous because when it comes to interpreting scripture, only the Catholic Church has the authority to do that, which makes their points mute before they even get started.

Of course, it is foolish to claim that Roman Catholics (RCs) are not Christians. They are Christian by definition of the word "Christian". Anyone who says not does not know what the word "Christian" actually means.

Of course, it is a subjective matter whether RCs are *saved* Christians or not.

As I understand it, popular belief within the RC church (RCC) (not canon law) is that the anti-christ will be a pope at some future date. This, I believe, is from the Fatima letter (and, of course, speculations much older than the Fatima "visitation"). Therefore, one can easily pin the anti-christ on the RCC in some manner (since RCs tend to do so themselves).

As far as the "whore of babylon", although at one point in time the RCC may have had the ability to sway most of the Western world (perhaps as much as 50% of the world's population at the height of Spanish conquest), clearly it no longer has such power, nor does it seem likely that it will in the worldly future which looms before us. The influence of the "whore of babylon" on "the kings of the earth" and "the inhabitants of the earth" certainly cannot apply to the RCC of today.

Clearly, the government of China has *considerably* more influence over it's population than does the RCC over its population. The RCC has significant influence in the world today - but hardly the world-pervasive influence which seems to be described in Rev, and its influence is certainly waning.

Conclusion: it seems *extraordinarily* unlikely that the RCC can (or more accurately, will) be the "whore of babylon" described in Rev. However, it *does* still appear likely, from the *current* state of affairs, that the anti-christ would be a pope. I suspect that, a century from now, the RCC's influence in world affairs will be so reduced that the people of that time will wonder how any of us could ever believe this, too.

The Book Of Revelation could not possibly mention the Catholic Church by name because the Catholic Church did not exist until 600 years later.

The Catholic Church is a man-made denomination, not the Church as described in the scriptures. I know, I spent the first 44 years of my life as a Catholic, and studied it well. After much research, I believe I have found a congregation of the Church, and there I will remain.

People are trying to tie things together. Some have it that there will be a Pope that is the False Prophet, not the Antichrist.

One good passage to show you is this one:

1 Timothy 4
1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.
3 They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.
4 For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

It sounds like you guys. But it's for God to make plain, isn't it?

My main problem is that you Roman Catholics spend more time preaching about Roman Catholicism than you do about Jesus Christ. To me, that's a tip off. You are telling me about what is important to you. What's important to me is Jesus Christ, and doing the will of God. Yet you guys are stuck on selling your church.

Proof: History textbooks.

The evidence was the first error of the Catholic Church (Indulgences). Would Jesus lie to people and tell them that they would get to Heaven by paying the church?

if any part of something is false, then the whole of it is false. truth must be complete in itself. "noone gets to the Father but by Me" said Yeshua (Jesus). our father and hail mary to intercede for man... rocket science alert. graven images... many many things. get several bibles and test them all against one another, and then go interlinear. it will help. also the antichrist... comes after a specific time. Here is a more interesting question: If there were proof, or at least evidence, would you consider a change of religious association?

The assertion is of course silly. So is the assertion that Catholics, or any other flavor of Christianity, have any understanding of the unreality of their beliefs.
