They found a way to do stem-cell research and reproduction WITHOUT the use of embryos this weekend in Japan and the US. While it's still brand new and tentative, this could be major. How do you feel about this? Atheists, did any of you have an objection to it in the first place, or is that generally reserved for the religious? I'm sure you Christians are stoked, but share your feelings as well if you'd like.

Someone else just posted a source, not to mention it's all over the news. Get your own source, darn it, what do you think I am? Reliable? :)

Oh my gatos, the guy who said liberals like to kill babies should be...sent to hell...or something. That is so ridiculous and out of line. Try putting yourself in others' points of view for once and be UNDERSTANDING of why people think they way they think.

Sorry dude, for all of us 'ignorant' ones. Can you blame the general public for not knowing until...um... they let us know??

Sorry we're all not as 'up to speed' and 'intellectual' as you are. However, no need to be condescending.

I heard. That's amazing! I didn't have a problem with them using embryos though....

I'm religious (Wiccan) but I've always supported stem-sell research. I don't equate an egg to a baby. However, if we can really do the same research without involving embryos, I think that's fantastic. The whole embryo issue is very touchy. While I don't consider it a baby, I understand why others do. If we can just avoid the whole mess, all the better!

NEW??? Boy, are you behind if you think this is new. This research has been ongoing for ages.

The following is information from a physician that is also a congressman.

I for one, am a Christian, and I had sense enough to know stem cell research had been going on without embryos back 3 years ago. It has continued to go on all the time. Some people were too untaught to realize the entire system, almost, is full of stem cells and also there has been nothing from the studies that makes the scientists believe they have cures or ever will have stem cell cures for all the ills it has been lauded to cure.

I'm a born again Christian and, yes, I heard about the breakthrough tonight. I have nothing at all against stem cell research, as long as it doesn't involve destroying embryos - that's destroying life. I'm relieved that they found this new breakthrough. At least it doesn't involve the destruction of embryos.

Yes this is fantastic news!
I truly hope and pray that this break through really pays off!
I just hope that any cures that come from this or any stem-cell procedure is made available to the common man and not just those wealthy enough to afford it.

It a great thing because then there is no need to worry about embryos and whether they are truly human beings or not.

STEM cell research and actual use of ADULT STEM cells are going on as we speak...

The embryonic stem cells as proved unusable...
But because goverment funding is only given for embyronic stem cells here..the Adults stem cell use has not been funded..

A teen who was paralized from car accident...is now walking on a walker by Adult STEM CELLS taken from her own Nose...The Top STEM CELL scientist has said embyronic stem cells will not work and have even caused tumors and cell damage in test subjects...and His colleuges agreed it wasnt working and probably never really would..but they wouldnt report that cause they would loose thier goverment funding.............and BY THE WAY the Young teen girl will be walking on crutches by end of year she hopes...and it was performed in Portugal cause its not allowed in the US....
They only will fund Embryonic Stem cells and not adult stem cells..........
And that athiest friends is SCIENCE at its best.....
And God given wisdom to man.......who isnt afraid to say what will work and what wont........and it is reported it can CURE DIEABETES / HEART DESEASE / STROKE / and PARALYSIS of ALL MANNER.........
YET it wont be researched nor funded in the US or used in these cases................YET..MILLIONS are being pushed for aborted and frozen embryonic cells which have already been proven rejected and problem causing when used.........

God said " THAT KNOWLEDGE WOULD INCREASE IN THE LAND"
so know new , news............

Just Facts stated.........already yet being thrust aside by US for political agenda's.........

Thats why Pres Bush said He would not Use goverment funding for new embryonic stem cell research...YET..people and congress and others keep overriding His knowledge of this Truth..........

yet millions of babies still die...in the name of science.......and for what ??
Already proven wont work.........BY SCIENCE......

Wisdom and knowledge came from God

But what GOD already knew and His people Knew already !!

Yeah, it's great, but I didn't have any objections to embryonic stem cells either. And I think most Christians will think of some other way to protest it.
