I'm trying read the entire Bible. I'm in Judges 8 right now. I've read all of the NT so far. As for studying, mostly the books after Acts.

For people who want a more in dept study of the Bible, my church offers classes on studies on things like:

Bibliology
Theology Proper
Christology
Pneumatology
Anthroplogy
Hamartiology
Angeology
Satanology
Soteriology
Ecclesiology
Eschatology

Comparison of Systematic and Biblical Theology

Similarities:

Both are based on the Bible.

Both are systematic.

Purpose:

A. It is the purpose of Systematic Theology to set forth truth and to tell why it is true. Systematic Theology gives forth an overview of the total scope of Theological truth.
B. Biblical Theology discovers what the various writers regarded as truth not only from what they wrote but also from which their writings reflect of their own theological thinking. Biblical Theology in so doing looks at a particular writers viewpoint or period of time.

Perspective:

A. Systematic Theology displays the truth as one harmonious whole from todays point of view.
B. Biblical Theology presents the thoughts from the statement or standpoint of the day in which they were given.

Of course, all from the Bible. I have taken the class once and fully intent to take it again. Among many others.

We read only from the King James Bible because we want only God's Word--nothing else. Why some people claim it's hard to understand, I don't. But I have come to understand base on individual comments, that the issue can not be base on ones education. Why, because I have heard of people claiming they have a MBA and claim they can't understand it and some individuals with only a 7th grade education that can. My daughter being one of them. I personally believe it is base on ones pray time with God before reading the Bible that makes the differents. Besides, other than names of people and cities, the KJB is only written in 3rd grade English. You understood me correctly, 3rd grade English. Take notice: The KJB does not have any compound words in it. The NIV does, among others.

Other studies have been on when the Books of the Bible, etc.

John 1:1 Pre-creation 3976 BC
Gen 1:1 Creation 3975
Gen 3 The fall of man
Gen 6 Flood 2319
Gen 10 Tower of Babel
Gen 12 Abraham 1967
etc.

I have for 44 years and the first ten years was confussing, then I realized much of what I had been taught was not what the bible teaches, I began to replace what I was taugh with what the bible teaches and things have been beautiful ever since, I do not have a religion, but I do have the truth.

I do. I don't pretend to understand everything, but because I continue to read and study God's word, He continues to increase my comprehension. A Christian must be hungry for biblical truth, if he is to grow in the Spirit.

*Jami N- you must be using a King James version. Try a New King James, which keeps the same flavor, but has more modernized language. There is also a New International Version (NIV) that you may have an easier time with.

I have studied the Bible. I've read it all the way through, and read it and reference to it daily. I pick verses out of it, and trust God for His promises by it, delve into Church History a little, read about the men who wrote it, learn about the prophets and other people in it, research single works in it, etc.

So there is a lot to study! Is anyone ever done?

although i read the bible, not as regurlarly as i shud, i cannot claim ive studied it in great depth. ive only studied enough to believe that ive made the most sensible and logical choice in choosing to remain a roman catholic.

im confident (well more than confident - i wager my soul on this) in the studies already undertaken by the Church in Her 2000yr old history as it my firm belief the Catholic Church is the Church that Jesus established when He walked this earth.

great question!.....most people on here spew out their own interpretation, with minimal study of the history of the peoples and languages of the early christians to the present day.

jen: all that studying and still no clue about what youre talking about. your arrogance supercedes atheist arrogance in believing you alone have the truth. if you alone have the truth how dare you keep it to yourself!! Jesus said to spread His message to the four corners of the world!, pray tell how are you fulfilling his instruction if you choose to worship alone in the confines of your home?

Christians who claim they have the truth but not church to go are the ultimate atheist...you know God exist but only according to what YOU believe. Trying seeing Jesus in others, Jesus does not want you to fellowship alone! that is your choice cos you is too lazy to go to church and too stubborn to believe that maybe the majority know more than you do!!

utter waste of time studying the bible just to come to the conclusion that you know better and have more understanding than any other christian. thats where "personal interpretation gets you. open your eyes that you may see.

I starting reading the bible when I was 7 years old.

I didn't understand much then.

I was saved in high school and then the understanding started.

I'm still learning.
