Well we are saved through faith, BUT... If you go to John 3:3 it says "Verily Verily i say unto you, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" and in verse 5 he says "except a man be born of the water and of the spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God" so it says it flat out right there.. And that refers to Acts 2:38 cuz THE ONLY WAY TO RECIEVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT is to be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ. but if we are baptized and not faithful, we still wont go to heaven. So we must be faithful after baptism. and if you look at James 2:17 it says "Even so faith, if it hath not works; is dead, being alone"

If baptism is a covenant that replaces circumcision, then you should have no problem at all with any of these verses. Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of the law, not a replacement, not a supplement to it. Baptism simply points to that fulfillment of the law, the promise of God to those who are his, given to his son.

If there really is God that judges our destination in the afterlife, do you really think the judgment would be based on whether or not we are dunked under some water in a ritual? If the judgment is based on that, God should be fired for gross incompetence.
