My father is a workaholic and he would do anything then go to the doctors well, he has cancer. And it could have been taken care of right away if he went in. Because he delayed this he has a 30% survival rate that he will be here in five years.
I don't mean to be mean but scare the **** out of him, pull stuff from the internet show him the facts. This is your father, knowledge is power.
Also have the doctors explain the procedure. My father was the same way, he never had a shot since he was a little boy and never swallowed a pill.
NOW every month he takes over 60 pills and has his blood drawn every two weeks under go chemo and have a port in his heart.
I will be thinking of your father and hope it works out. Your father is in shock right now and that is okay. Give it a week and have people talk to him.
I hope I helped, you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Late-stage prostate cancer is difficult to handle. Hormone therapy can temporarily halt or slow down the development of the cancer - but once it starts spreading, that's a completely different kettle of fish. I do think I know what you're going through - my dad's in the early stages of prostate cancer (he was diagnosed a little over a year ago, with a very favorable Gleason-score). In his case, the treatment is set to be radiotherapy with a fairly massive radiation dose, though he's currently getting other more acute problems treated. Though it is commonly said that you die WITH prostate cancer rather than OF prostate cancer, you're quite right - it CAN be fatal, but can usually be controlled to such an extent that it isn't the cause of death (though it can be quite unpleasant in its latter stages).

You cannot make him get the biopsy but you might print out articles of how early detection saves lives. Also do you know any of his friends who have prostate cancer?? Perhaps they can talk to him. My dad has had it for 16 years now and is still here and doing ok. Tell your dad how much you love him and want him to be around for grandchildren and weddings etc and tell him how much it would mean to you if he had the biopsy done just for peace of mind.

If he thinks a biopsy is bad, just wait until he has to have chemotherapy or surgery for cancer. Or until he has terminal cancer and has to have shots for pain. Help him realize that a biopsy is a piece of cake compared to extensive cancer treatment or suffering terminal cancer.

Then there's a 50% chance he doesn't!
Yes, I can thing of many things I'd rather do. but it only takes 5 minutes, then it's done, and in a few days, you know what's up!
If caught early, it's one of the easier kinds of cancers to treat, if caught too late,............. you know what I mean.
Tell him you want him to stay around for a long, long time.Let's find out exactly what we're dealing with.

Chiropractor or not, it sounds like your dad doesn't want to know what could potentially be a scarey diagnosis.
Of course he is aware of everything related to getting tested early on, so no need to pummel him with info and facts.
Instead, I would try to relate to him on an emotional level and let him know that you understand his fear. Perhaps getting him to talk to another male the same age might help. Even if he doesnt seem to respond he will be listening and it may help.

It can be cured if he catches it early. If not, he can die or loose important parts of his anatomy. It can always get worse.
