apparently, they look but do not see. they read it from cover to cover. I doubt that. How could they and still come out dumb. I have read much of it, and the beliefs are always coined with a scriptual reference(s) the church is in the bible, the catecism explains in such a way tho, that it requires action, apparently people are too lazy to do what is required.

Jesus had a key to answering this question in Matthew 25:29: "For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him."
When opponents of the one and only Church organized by Jesus try to read the Catholic Catechism, they have so little to work with that they can't understand what is written.
One of their biggest problems is their rule that they can only believe what is written in scripture (sola scriptura), and that anyone is authorized to make any interpretation they want.
Neither of these rules is biblical. For example, John 21 explains: "Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written."
There are other teachings of Jesus not in the Bible, but rather in the memory of the early Catholic Christians. We call these Sacred Tradition.
Neither can we interpret the scriptures in ways pleasing to ourselves. As St. Paul wrote in 1 Tim 3:15: "If I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth."
The Church, not the Bible, is the pillar and foundation of the truth. We need the Church organized by Jesus and charged with defending his teachings to help us understand what Jesus taught.
Cheers,
Bruce

yes it was taught to me as a regular part of the curriculum ,i had to learn some latin as well. but the best thing about catholic school was that they taught me how to learn ,and the uniforms that the girls wore .but i digress.
my main problem with catholicism was the editing of emperor Constantine ,the integration of pagan holidays to coincide with Christendom's.and the fabricated story about pontius pilate allowing his subjects to dictate whom he would execute ,in deference to their feast at passover .not likely for an ambitious governor of judea.the purpose of the story was clearly to take the heat off of the romans and place it upon the jews.
in my opinion the purpose of the holy roman catholic church was to extend the reign of the roman empire which was waning by the time of consantine's era. i don't have time and there isn't enough space to elaborate further ,if truly intrested read a concise history of the catholic church, published in 1977.

the fundamentalists will continue to hate anyone who doesn't believe EXACTLY as they do, no matter how much they read about it. they are so stuck on twisting things to conform with their views that they cannot learn. when a person starts to really think critically they usually find a new church other than a fundamentalist one. just ignore them and don't try to change them unless you have a personal stake in their life, and even then, good luck with that.

How do you know what someone believes? Observe their behavior. Read what they have written. Read what others have written about them. Go to a service. Talk to their believers.
How do you know if a belief is of God? You compare it to the Bible.
All the comparison of Catholic Faith to the Bible points to many discrepancies between the two. To this the typical catholic on here arrogantly informs the rest of the world of its ignorance.
Lets let the Word decide. He has already spoke and we have the New Testament. Some ignore it and worship idols anyways, others in fear and respect obey it. Who do you think God will reject?

Yes, I've read it cover to cover.
And when I repeat what it says, Catholics complain I don't know what I'm talking about.
Apparently I know their religion better than they do.
