I am a Mormon and consider myself well read, I study the bible daily.

The commonalities of Mormonism and Islam are few. Perhaps all I can come up with is that the have a belief in God and they both are sincere and determined to live the precepts of their faith.

I'm familiar with the article you're referring to -- and I applaud it. I like finding similarities between the gospel contained within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and all other religions and denominations. The article to which you refer draws a very defining line between Islam in general and the radical Islamic terrorist movement and shows just how much they perverted the original teachings of the man. But there's one large difference between Islam and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints [and indeed, ultimately, it shows that Muhammad, no matter how 'inspired' he may have been was no prophet]. We worship Christ. We acknowledge Him as the only Begotten Son of God on Earth. We celebrate the divine mission of Jesus Christ upon this earth - and understand that without the infinite Atonement of our Savior and Redeemer, we would be lost forever. We proclaim that Christ was crucified and rose again. He was the first fruit of the Resurrection. He defeated death and proved the way for all man to do the same.
Islam rejects the the Savior as anyting but a prophet -- and denies people the opportunity to seek Him through persecution and tyranny.
A wise and loving Father in Heaven does not condemn for a lack of knowledge or understanding -- indeed, we who profess to know the Christ and understand his Divinity have a greater accountability for our actions than do those who live and die without the opportunity to learn of the Savior and his gospel.

But we need to remember that we are all the sons and daughters of God -- despite the differences between our religious understandings and beliefs.

Okay, this may be a little wordy, but, anyway, heregoes.

"1. Faith in a God who is omniscient, omnipotent, and eternally concerned about the welfare of all human beings...

2. Belief in prophets whom God has raised up in every place and time in world history to teach humanity about the path of happinessg through submission to God. Both LDS and Muslims have their own "modern" scriptures--the BOM and the Qur'an respectively--but both groups accept previous revelations such as the Bible and the Torah "so far as they are translated correctly," (that is, so far as they are congruent with orthodox doctrine in each tradition).

3. Observance of religious rituals and acts of worship such as prayer, fasting, and charitable giving. Both groups encourage frequent communication with God through individual and group prayers, abstaining from food and drink during certain periods to increase spiritual awareness and commitment, and giving of one's material substance to help the poor and needy in society and to strengthen the religious community.

4. Emphasis on strong family life...

5. Adherence to high standards of moral and ethical conduct...

6. Observance of a dietary code intended to promote physical health as a means to spiritual well-being..." (1)

There are also many divergences of belief though, and I will not get into this because that was not the question.

What do they have in common?

They both follow false prophets.

Read Deut 18 and Jeremiah 28 and you will understand.

They were both conceived by mad men, long after the real writings of the Holy Scriptures were complete. And they both reject the Deity of Jesus, making them antichrist.

The LDS are to Christianity, what the Islamics are to Judaism.

They are both sex cults founded by pedophiles.

Mohammed married a six year old and consummated the marriage when she was nine.

Joseph Smith married at least eleven teenagers. Teenagers as young as 14. At least he didn't marry any 6 year olds.

They both promise men lots of sex in heaven.

They were both founded, allegedly by a message from an angel, which Paul warned us not to do in Galatians chapter one.

They both deny that Jesus is God.
