Hello friends,I've been a permanent resident, living in the US for almost 4 years.Always wanted to live in Australia;but don't know anybody over there.
I'm originally from Brazil, but I speak English fluently.
I was wondering what it takes to live legally in Australia.

It is easier if you have family here, come as an International Student to study, a business to sponsor you or a skilled job that Australia is short on. Of course Migrating as a Refugee or Humanitarian Entrant would be the easiest!

However research the following websites to give you more information. . . .

Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship - http://www.immi.gov.au
Australian Government - http://www.australia.gov.au

For Aussie skilled jobs go to http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/index.htm

About working in Aussie - http://www.workingin-australia.com
For Australia Skilled Immigration Assessment Form - http://www.workpermit.com/australia/relocation.htm

For living costs - http://www.aussiemove.com/aus/costlive.asp

Step-by-step guides to procedures and paperwork
http://www.justlanded.com/english/australia is a great guide that explains things in plain English, applying for visas, working or as an international student etc…

Good Luck with it all.

Lots of money.
Depends on where you want to live in Australia and which visa you have.

Australian govt will be able to help with your enquires
My advice BIG SHOULDERS , plenty of insect repellent , fly spray, thongs to kill the creepy crawlies, (Oh that's a flip flop to you i think):) and big appetite for sport and bring plenty of self confidence If your full of yourself you`ll fit in nicely. Big ego a must have . Oh and if you can speak like you got tight undies and nasally you`ll be doing fine up Queensland way.
When you have done your time, you can have half your brain removed (its called a Steve Irwin)and become one of them if you want.
Best of luck
