7 months is a very safe age- most topical flea meds are safe at 7-9 weeks. You will want to get something like advantage or frontline from your veterinarian though, the meds sold in stores are pyrethrin based and can be dangerous for small dogs. Most flea meds go by weight, so be sure to pick up something in her weight range.

If it were my puppy, I wouldn't put anything on her sensitive skin until 2 or 3 months. However, If you keep her and her area clean, she will not need the harsh chemicals of flea medicine.

Most flea meds can be used on any dog 3 mo of age or older.
BUT
get one of the good ones, not Hartz. Get Frontline Plus, or Advantage, or K9-Advantix or Revolution. There are several excellent ones and these are four of the best.

I totally agree with the dawn dish soap and a bath. I hate to use these harsh and harmful chemicals on any animal especially a baby anything. I have three dogs , one short hair and the other two have thick long coats. THey are outside alot everyday. I do this bath with the dish soap, and I have no flea problems at all.I also use it to squirt dilluted with water on my horses along with vinegar to kill flys and mosquitos.
I just think the constant application of killer chemicals may be one of the proplems that cause our house pets to die so young. But that's just my thoughts.

Depends what flea treatment you use - pet store ones often aren't safe even for adult animals!

Veterinary spot-ons can be used from 8 weeks of age. Frontline spray can be used from 2 days of age.

Brands like Frontline and Advantage - make puppy flea treatments.. check with your vet or pet shop to make sure that they are ok to use - if you are still worried.

As long as it is a quality product such as Frontline, Advantage, or Revolution, you should be fine. They are labeled for puppies as young as 8 weeks of age. Please avoid Hartz brand, flea collars, etc..as they can be potentially toxic and don't really work that well.

Yes, but don't overdo it. Advantage and Frontline work well and are pretty safe. You apply it at the base of the neck and shoulder area so they can't lick it off. You can get it at your vet's office.
