Many large corporations rely on good writers to compose their newsletters, journals, instruction manuals, educational materials, bulletins, etc.
Creative writing, unless you're extremely talented, can prove long and frustrating, and not immediately lucrative as a career, but you might enjoy it as a sideline.
Journalism is very exciting and fast-paced, and requires discipline and meeting deadlines.
Or you might even consider teaching creative writing.
In my opinion, good writing is a lost art. Everything seems to have gone to abbreviation. The basics of good English grammar, spelling and punctuation seem to have gone by the wayside. However, there is still a demand for those who can communicate thoughts and ideas in written form, and I would strongly encourage anyone who is interested in the subject to pursue it. I am also a writer. I work part time as a journalist, interviewing people and profiling them. In my spare time, I am writing what I hope to be the great American novel. I also write articles, short stories and poetry. Creative writing is a means of self-expression, and non-fiction writing is an excellent way of communicating. I say go for it, and lots of luck!

I write for nonprofit organizations. It's very fulfilling, as I tell the stories of the people who are helped by those agencies. I get $2,000 for writing a direct mail appeal, $5,000-$7,000 for writing grant applications. It's not difficult to learn, either. You can get information on how to write grants at www.fdncenter.org for free, you can take one-day courses for little money, and you can intern for organizations to gain experience. You can also write their newsletters, too. All nonprofits need these things.

A good start is editing for other writers also, surround yourself with these types, join a writers club and keep everything that happens down on paper to establish your writing habits>>>look forward to reading your work one day!
