I don't know where I heard that I should be weight-lifiting every other day...

But Is this true? Or can you do it whenever you want?

Ideally you should do both at least three days a week, but preferably four. Also, I was working out for a year and not seeing any weight loss until... a trainer told me to do my weights BEFORE my cardio. Because the first 20 minutes you work out, you're just burning through your glucose. If you do cardio first, you waste 20 minutes of that not even burning calories. So, do the weights first, burn through your sugar and build lean muscle mass at the same time. Good luck!

Generally people who weight train with heavy weights do upper body one day and lower the next. Muscle mass is added basically because the muscle fibers tear and then tissue is added during the repair process, so a day off allows the muscle to do this. If you are just using a low weight for toning you can probably do it everyday.

do as many exercises you want a day up to 4 days a week, preferably not simutaneously. my exercise routine is irregular, but i usually don't lift heavy twice in a row in the same area.
