Here's a clue. We are spirits living in a material world. When your body die's, your spirit go's on.

I believe the "burning" that is talked about that we will experience is hell is not a physical pain but a mental and emotional one, the lasting regret one feels who has chosen the darkness of Satan in preference to the light of Christ. All of us sometime, and some of us much of the time, suffer remorse of conscience from things we did wrong or things left undone. Magnify that by a million and I believe you have a small idea of the pain of conscience those who waste away their days of probation in mortality experience in the afterlife. But, I have to warn that we cannot even come close to imagining hell...

"Wherefore, he saves all except them[sons of perdition]—they shall go away into everlasting punishment, which is endless punishment, which is eternal punishment, to reign with the devil and his angels in eternity, where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched, which is their torment— And the end thereof, neither the place thereof, nor their torment, no man knows; Neither was it revealed, neither is, neither will be revealed unto man, except to them who are made partakers thereof; Nevertheless, I, the Lord, show it by vision unto many, but straightway shut it up again; Wherefore, the end, the width, the height, the depth, and the misery thereof, they understand not, neither any man except those who are ordained unto this condemnation." (1. D&C 76:44-48. Brackets mine.)

P.S. your logic concerning the idea that there can be no physical burning in hell (and there isn't) is flawed anyway because of the resurrection. Resurrection is the reuniting of the spirit body with the physical body of flesh and bones after death. After resurrection, the spirit and body will never again be separated, and the person will become immortal. Every person born on earth will be resurrected because Jesus Christ overcame death (1 Cor. 15: 20-22).

Those who die without salvation will receive a body at the last judgment, before they are cast into the lake of fire. May I make a suggestion, and read the Gospel of Mark, if you haven't done so? Jesus Christ had a lot to say about Hell and everlasting punishment. Why would anybody want to risk going there, when we have the chance to be with God forever?

What makes you think we will not have physical bodies in hell (not being hateful) The Bible says that we will have a new resurrected body that is perfect and can stand before God, People in hell will have bodies also, but they will burn forever without being consumed by fire.

Hello, well I'm Muslim and the Quran it declares on the day of judgment we will all be resurrected and our body will be regenerated. If u are in hell u will be burned and all those things....your body will be damaged and the damaged parts of ur body will be regenerated again and the process is everlasting...kinda scary.

Very good question, I've asked this myself, I'll refer back to see the answers although I have a theory.

I believe Hell will be spiritual torture, i.e. thirsting and craving for God's love knowing they will never be with Him.

I find Kiker's explanation to be the most reasonable.

Ty also has a good point.
