Are there Muslims that drink alcohol?

Question

Sometimes on a Saturday night my father goes to visit his brother and a few times he's come home and I can smell alcohol on his breath. We are Muslim and it is forbidden to drink alcohol. I asked him and he denies it and says I'm being ridiculous.I don't worry about him driving because my uncle lives about a half mile away and my father walks there. I mentioned it to my mother and she told me that it is none of my business and I'm not to mention it again or to anyone else.

My friend says that there are some Muslims that drink alcohol privately but nobody says anything. Does any other Muslims here know about this?

Please no nasty comments about Muslims.

Some people are Muslim by name only. They don't actually practice their religion. It's such a shame, we are blessed with the best religion (Alhumdulillah!) but some people stray far from God's path.

Some Muslims do yes, just like some Muslims are terrorists. Muslims are not supposed to because God said so. Yes, scientifically some good can come from it but the bad outweighs the good. And tell me how many ppl truly drink for the health benefits? Very few...if you even knew how small ONE serving of wine really is you would be surprised. Alcohol is absolutely strictly prohibited in Islam.

If it's really true your father committed two sins;

1. Drinking Alcohol
2. Cheating

It's totally on their own. Let them deny. God knows. The Angle (Malaikat) the writing records on the right name KIRAMAN and on the left KATIBIN will be recording all good and bad. Its recorded in the book called "Sijjeen". The seal records of your ownself. It's only be given during the Day of the Judgement where all human beings standing infornt of Al-Mighty God ALLAH Subhanahu Wataála the Lord of The Day of Judgement. On that very day no soul can be of any helps to any other souls.

...and there are even liquor stores in many muslim countries. I believe it is usually done in moderation and ALWAYS in private as only the most extreme practitioners of ANY religion follow all the rules. I think you should be careful who you talk to and let know because of possible censure in your community(many religious people do the same things in private but look very poorly on getting caught). This is likely why your mother doesn't want you ever mentioning it because it is likely harmless and she doesn't want to see your family harmed because of it.

Muslims are human and they commit sins just like everyone else. Yes there are muslims who drink alcohol and the will answer to Allah for their sin.

The 9/11 terrorists drank alcohol before they murdered all those people. So yeah, I guess it's ok, especially if you're planning a suicide attack in the near future, which basically secures your place in heaven with your 70-some virgins no matter what other sins you commit.
