I think that either way is not a good choice.
I would have to say Gay though.
Ending someones life is worse than being gay.
Even though sin is sin, I would rather him harm himself than anyone else.

What a terrible question, and what terrible responses!
For my own answer, I say gay, of course, like myself. I never chose to be gay, and if I could with honesty change that DNA marker, wherever it is, I very well might do it. It would certainly make my life easier to avoid the hardships that come with being the way God made me.
At the same time, every hardship is a gift. God made me a lesbian, and every hardship that has come to me because of it (and I am blessed to have had relatively few) has made me a stronger and better person. I know that my challenge in life is to live true to how God made me.
Now, I say all this with the note that I am Jewish, not Christian. Some of you will instantly disqualify my answer on those grounds, but please remember that at least part of our holy books are the same text.
Nowhere in the Hebrew Bible does it mention female homosexuality. It mentions only one male homosexual act in euphemistic terms. It makes no mention of homosexual feelings, homosexual love, or any act other than the one which it forbids. Many religious men who discover that they are gay will refrain entirely from that one act, while living happy and fulfilling, religious lives.
Back to my theoretical son. Even if I bought into the terrible idea that God would make someone in a way which God Godself would consider wrong, and then make it impossible to change, I would still say gay, because homosexuality harms no one as murder does.
To those who said murder, found it hard to decide, equated the two, or were unable to answer: I am praying for you, and I forgive you.

i have two boys.
to be honest i would be heartbroken for my son/s if one or both turn out to be gay. (yet not for the reasons you may presume - homosexuality is not a sin)
to answer your Q however i would rather deal with neither but if i had to choose between one or the other i would rather my son was gay and had the greatest respect for life than hetrosexual with an utter disrespect with life.

Religiously no, but spiritually I would much rather he be gay instead of a murderer. At least I wouldn't have to see him through bars the rest of his life.

Gay!
In fact, I really don't care if I had have a gay son anyway.
That might actually be pretty cool......

I would rather my son be homosexual. Geez. I'd like to meet anyone who is not joking when they say they would rather their son be a murderer.
"The distinction between feelings or inclinations on the one hand, and behavior on the other hand, is very clear. It’s no sin to have inclinations that if yielded to would produce behavior that would be a transgression. The sin is in yielding to temptation. Temptation is not unique. Even the Savior was tempted." Same fate in either case:
"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." 1Cor 6:9,10
Re 21:8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars— their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur.

Gay because he could repent and be forgiven. A murderer (criminal homicide) can not find forgiveness in the flesh. God wants murderers dispatched to Him, capital punishment.

Funny they both end up in the same passage in the Bible: 1 Timothy 1:9 "...law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals..."

What a terrible question!
You sound like you think gay people are equivalent to murderers. Maybe that's not the case, but is surely sounds like it.
We cannot control what our children will or will not be. That is something they do on their own.
