nicaragau made abortion under all circumstances illegal just over a year ago (it is a catholic country):

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/6161396.stm

the world health organisation estimates that in the last year about 180 women have died from ectopic pregnancies, because an 'abortion' could not be performed under the new law. (do your own google search on that one).

an ectopic pregnancy is when the conceptus embeds outside the womb. there is no chance that the baby can develop or be born. as the fetus grows the mother dies (usually in intense pain).

this is what pro-life means in practice: early death for mothers with an easily operable medical condition.

See... blondie doesn't care. She'd rather the woman die in horrible agonizing pain. What a horrible person you are blondie. You must be a member of one of those cults that refuse to give their children medicine or allow a blood transfusion.

If a woman's life is in danger, if its a case of rape, if its a case, of incest, if the pregnant mother is a minor (like 12 or 13 years old), if the pregnant woman is extremely poor or utterly unable to take any time off work because it would devastate the rest of the family and make them homeless....

There are many reasons to allow abortions.

While there should be perfect agreement with aborting unwanted fertilized eggs growing inside your womb, the phrase 'Justifiable homicide' seems extreme, as does, 'by any measure.' Some 'measures,' are dangerous to the health of the woman, or female child, in which case it's better not to proceed. Safe measures, are necessary. Homicide assumes that you are killing whether justifiable or not, which is a mistake. This is the same kind of thinking that condemns men for 'wasting their seed' when they masturbate. Abortion is not killing, it's the end of another unsuccessful egg. Just like the millions of unsuccessful sperizoids that never reach an egg. Also, the idea gives more value to the egg than to the woman.. A lot of years have gone into the life of the woman, so, this investment should be looked after as carefully as possible. On the same line, any judge who disagrees with abortion should be legally and financially responsible for the welfare of any unwanted child that would not to have had to suffer being born without his, rarely her, legal interference. However, there is a huge difference between the disappearance of an unknown, undeveloped life, and the removal from society of a maladjusted socially-unept attacker. The potential child may prove to be a joy. The attacker is a costlly threat to women and the whole society.

Where abortion is legal there is no need to justify it! If the laws prohibiting abortion also forbid operating upon the pregnant woman for an ectopic pregnancy, that is an untenable situation and would result in an agonizing death for the woman. Before abortion was legal in the United States, illegal abortions were performed, often with disastrous or tragic results -- one good reason for not overturning Roe vs. Wade is that making abortion illegal will not actually prevent it from happening; it will prevent abortions from being performed legally under sterile conditions by qualified doctors.
There is actually a case of a baby in Britain who developed outside the womb and was born healthy -- one in a million, however. Ectopic pregnancies are usually tubal and will result eventually in the rupture of the Fallopian tube leading to peritonitis and death of the woman; the fetus would not have been viable at that stage and would also die. So, what has the law gained by such prohibition, a population decrease?

for some abortion is justifiable under necessary circumstances, and who is the judge and jury on what those necessary circumstances are?
And not everyone has an abortion because they got drunk and forgot to use a condom.
and it's interesting how so many pro-lifers are ok about sending "our" boys and now our girls to war!
That's horrible that these women can't get an "abortion" with an ectopic pregnancy so even tho they are pro-life they will kill the mother so they don't kill the unborn child - yeah that just makes a lot of sense. ok I fail to see what's pro life about that.

Too many "religions" get hooked up on enforcing what the will of the Lord is. It's unfortunate that women's lives are at stake over this issue. The person who has the frivolous abortion is the one that most hurts my heart, but I hurt even worse to think that the miracle meant to bring joy into the world become a death sentence for women who do not have the choice to live another day. It is not the roll of government or church to judge a person's decision regarding their own bodies. And what that person decides as a believer will be something they alone will speak with the Lord over one day. Unfortunately Nicaragua does not believe in personal liberty as we do here in the US. Until the right to be ones own decider is supported in a country it is not a free country, and people will continue to suffer for it.

So,Garway, are you willing to ban all abortions except ectopic and others that can probably kill the mother?

The removal of ectopic pregnancies are done routinely in real Catholic countries and others that ban abortion which in other cases is the willfull, unneeded and premeditated taking of innocent human life which is the definition of murder

The article mentions nothing about ectopic pregnancies and where are these 180 deaths from? One country/or several or all countries/?deaths from ectopic pregnaceis that were not diagnosed?

Most Western,if not just about all, abortions are done out of the inconvenience of carrying a child to term.

thats the problem with pro life or religious nuts, they whine and complain about their opinion never considering the possiblility that there is a need for it.

its like a practise called "Dagging" of sheep, where they cut off a peice the hindquarter that grows wool, A starlet. (im thinking of paris hilton but not sure) heard about this and jumped up and down to have this horrible practise stopped.

the problem is that undagged sheep get poo gets stuck to the region and then flies eat the sheep alive. its much worse then the dagging. but she didnt realise that until she was shown by farmers the effect of the problem

Rape, incest. Health of the mother or the baby. Age of the mother. This in no way means I endorse abortion at any time or age of the fetus. Lets say Before the third trimester

I believe that abortion is only acceptable in the case of an ectopic pregnancy. In that case, neither the mother nor the child will survive, so the mother's life should be spared. I practice what I believe. My oldest son is the result of a rape. He will be thirteen next week and is a blessing every day!

Well, I think that is the woman was going ot be harmed, then yeah, there should be an abortion, becasue with the ectopic pregnancy, the baby won't survive either. But still, I am pro-life. SO many children who could have had healthy lives and good boirths didn't, becasue of abortion. So many beautiful kids never had a chance. How can you say that is alright?
