Please think of cars as a way to travel to and from work. And invest in stocks bonds securities. Cars loose value as soon as you drive away from the dealership. And buy what you like because it won't be long after gasoline get's to $5.00 a gallon cars will be worth even less.

If you mean by invest, less depreciation, then the Altima is the better choice. Here in Canada, Maximas go for about $50k new, you can find 3 year old ones, same generation for about $20k.

Altimas are about 30k new, with 3 year told ones going for 17k.

the new nissans have gone down in quality the maxima burns oil between oil changes and the altima has no power unless its stick shift
