it may not be. there are different types of bacteria. one of the type of bacteria that grows on raw meat that is left out unrefrigerated will not be killed by heat. so be careful. was it defrosted meat? you should defrost in cool water. if it was refrigerated & you removed it from the fridge & left it sitting for 6 hrs it probably is NOT SAFE to eat. if you are lucky it MAY be ok to eat , but you could get very sick from that. when in doubt throw it out!!!! and i wouldn't do that in the future. additional thought......don't listen to that guy saying it's ok for the cats. any meat that is spoiled & not fit for human consumption should NOT be fed to your animals either. :)

Once any meat has been sitting out at room temperature, for more than an hour or even less, depending on how warm your home is, bacteria begins to develop.
You cannot boil away food poisoning. You do not want to take the chance of getting food poisoning, being rushed to the emergency room and having your stomach pumped out is not a pleasant experience.
Do not ever feed meat that has been left out to pets, they will not survive the types of bacteria that humans can fight off.
Would not be a good start to Thanksgiving or the holiday season.

I wouldn't eat it. Especially if it wasn't frozen. Thawing in room temperature allows bacteria to spread quickly.
"Bacteria, or other germs, need time, food and moisture (or wetness) to grow; but they won't grow when the temperature of the food is colder than 41º F or hotter than 140º F. The temperatures in between 41º and 140º are in the "Danger Zone." Keep potentially hazardous foods out of the "Danger Zone!" For example, when food is left in the "Danger Zone", bacteria can grow fast, and make poisons that can make your customers and family very sick."

Just make sure it gets to at least 180 degrees all the way through for at least 10 minutes. Salmonella, the food poisoning chicken is known for, will die at those temperatures and not affect you after that.

I never take chances with any kind of meat. I always say better safe than sorry. I'm sure you would be fine but is it really worth the risk of being stuck on the toilet all day? Good luck.

In my cooking class, we learned that to never eaat meat or any other food that has been left out for long times because bacteria multiplys very quickly, especially in meat
so no it is not safe to eat even when boiling it

If the chicken is bad, boling is not going to help. It has nothing to do with salmonella. It is the toxins created by spoilage, and they don't die by cooking.
Smell the chicken. If it smells bad, throw it away. If not, you can eat it.

it should be safe to cook i guess. Was the chicken covered? It shouldnt have been left that long.
As long as you cook it properly it should do no harm but if i were you i would throw the chicken out.
