I was raised to "Be how I want to be". At 25, I still do not know what that is.

Please do not say "Listen to God". The bible is a collection of stories taht weren't necessarily written by him. I find Christens to be some of the must judgemental people I have ever met. This is part of the reason I have distanced myself from Christianity solely.

You can live your life the way you desire it to be as long as you won't be hurting yourself and the people around you physically and emotionally. Just be one of those persons who does something good to mankind.

The original catholic-orthodox Church, of which the Catholic Church is a major branch today, was founded by Jesus to carry on his work after the Resurrection. This work is to "bind and loose" (see Matt 16:18).

The binding work of the Church is to protect the original teachings of Jesus from change by those who prefer a different gospel, and to continually reinterpret his teachings with changing times. For example, Jesus didn't talk about stem cell research, but the Church applies his teachings on other issues, e.g., the commandment not to murder and to suffer little children to come to him.

I have a few reservations on some minor interpretations of the Church. However, I have found that the Church does a very good job in giving us sound guidance on how to live as Jesus would have us live. A good compendium of these teachings is in the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

To learn more about his teaching, I recommend you start a steady relationship with Christ by coming back to Mass every week. Join a study group at your local parish to learn more about the faith. Eventually, you will be in a better position to decide whether to receive the sacraments that Christ provided through his church for a rich and happy Christian life.

Cheers,
Bruce

Read and follow the Bible. It is the basis for all religions---and if a religion doesn't follow the Bible it is not a true religion. Start reading in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. They tell about the life of Christ and are easiest to understand. Most stores sell Bibles pretty cheap or look in the phone book for the nearest Gideons....they will GIVE you a Bible for free. I bet that any church will give you a Bible if you call and ask for one. Again, the Bible is the answer.

Then don't "confine" yourself... Don't follow the Catholics either. Follow the Bible (preferably in a language that you can read instead of Latin). I would suggest that you forget everything else that you were taught through the Catholic church, and rely on the living Word of God to guide you to truth.

the Christian bible is a Catholic book dingbat.

To paraphrase Mother Theresa, be the best Catholic you can be, be the best Muslim, be the best Buddhist, in doing so you will continue to search for truth and ultimately absolute truth.

The way you always have - by your knowledge that some things harm yourself or others, and that other things do not. After all, that's the whole basis to most theology, and most ethical systems. "Do unto others..." was around long before Christianity came along (courtesy of Hillel the Elder, where Jesus probably got it), and whether you believe in God or not, it's a pretty good ethical guideline, in my opinion.

You will have no center til you seek 1st the kingdom of God. Gods will is not optional if you want to build the kingdom. So- until you totally accept Him as Lord of your whole being you will continue to wander. I hope you will reconsider.

You always have two basic choices, listen to yourself or listen to God.

When you choose to listen to yourself the possibilities are endless but all lead to one place.
