It's hard to give you an answer not knowing what they plan to discuss with you. They obviously are looking for young people to help them with their business. Maybe they are legit and figure younger people are likely to have more time on their hands to work a "part time" job. To get you excited about the opportunity they may tell you all the other people who are making thousands of dollars in extra income. Make sure to ask a lot of questions like will you have to purchase anything to get started, how much time will you need to invest? Will you incur expenses along the way? What is your commission on a sale, etc?
I'm only guessing here, but it may be something related to companies like Amway. Have you ever heard of the word; "Multilevel Marketing". Google it and see what you come up with.

I think this couple won't pose any "harm" to you and meeting with them IN A PUBLIC PLACE would be fine. I too am quite certain that they are in network marketing or Multilevel Marketing (usually the same thing). At any rate, any business that a person starts whether in network marketing or any brick and mortar business is going to require money to start. It always amazes me that the same people that put down network marketing/mlm marketing due to their being start up costs would never consider putting the same person down if they opened a pizza place! Either way, you have start up costs!
Now, as far as the MLM/Network Marketing model, it is true that a person can make some nice money OVER A VERY LONG TIME AND WITH A TON OF PEOPLE in your business. It will take a lot of work and effort and YES, IT WILL TAKE MONEY. Any legit business online or offline will have start up costs, marketing costs and normal course of business expenses.
Again, I think you would be fine meeting them but here is the real thing you need to ask yourself. CAN YOU BE A MASTER RECRUITER? What I mean by this is that for anyone to be successful in network marketing you have to be a great recruiter. This is exactly why 95% of people fail in this type of business model. So if you can't recruit (like this couple is doing and in many other ways) don't start in MLM or network marketing.
Hope this helps and I wish you both good luck!

I would check into these people VERY deeply before getting involved. Background checks are a great start, and there are many companies on line that do a good job.
Go online and check them out, too. Google can be your best friend. Don't let yourself be fooled by a slick website that they may have put together.
Call the better business bureau and see if they've heard of them.
When I was younger, I never knew there was such a thing as a sociopath, who was without empathy and a conscience. These sickos are, without exception, charming and warm. They are master manipulators and pathological liars.
I've learned to be leery of overly-friendly people, especially ones who approch out of nowhere, not knowing me from Adam, offering me a job. This is the grown-up version of "help me find my puppy".
Watch out. They'll be asking for "seed money", next.

If it sounds too good to be true, then, IT IS too good to be true. The successful scams are those people who seem SO nice and SO helpful. There is nothing for free in this world, and, making money is not easy. If making money is easy all of us would be filthy rich. Be really careful. If it was me I'd forget about it. But it's your choice.

OKAY!! I know this one! My brothers girlfriends stepdad has a business like this. He sits at home all day for about 12 hours emailing and calling and setting up meetings and trying to convince people like you and me to get involved in a business called network marketing! Do not fall for this its a ever ending pyramid and its not worth it! Anytime someone approaches you like this in a public place usually that's exactly what is the network marketing gig. PASS!

My husband and I had a similar experience after our engagement picture was in the paper.
My advice to you is don't fall for his line. That's what it is, a line.
