bastuardo1 has perfectly answered your question. Oh, I think you do ask a very good question.

It is a sticky situation at best. One where each side in this multi-sided conflict will be quick to point fingers at the other side. But the question I ask is this. Why do you blame Israel for this mess when they were going after the people who routinely bomb their cities and kidnap their soldiers? Is there not equal blame for the ones who started this mess? I mean Israel would not have dropped bombs in Lebanon if they were not provoked. So really this should be worded, thanks to the Muslim fighters who provoked the Israeli response. Yes I know you will say Israel provoked the Arabs into their bombs, Israel says the same thing. So where will it stop? With Israeli nuclear bombs, no Arab country will again attack Israel. All they are doing is mosquito bites that will provoke the Jews into more reprisals. You will never destroy Israel without destroying the Muslims along with them. So how do you have peace in the MIddle East?

If you ignore one side of a fight and only blame the other side, you will NEVER have peace.

The only real way we will have true peace in the middle east is to start by everyone on all sides stop fighting and setting off bombs. You can hardly have any real peace when one side kills people and then the other side responds. Both sides are guilty of starting crap. When you ignore the guilt of one side by only blaming Israel, you will never have peace.

Is this not some food for thought?

The Jews have a right to live there as well do the Muslims and Christians. All 3 religions have history there. Heck, the Jews gave birth to the Christian and the Islamic faiths. Since the Jewish faith came before the Muslims and Christians, should not the Jews control Israel with the Palestinians having the West Bank while establishing joint control on the Holy Sites within each area?

Just my 2 cents. OK, now I know the people on the Palestinians side in this conflict will give me a thumbs down or some hateful statements. But we will get no where in a real peace. You will never have peace by fighting. Israel is not going anywhere. They no longer need the US or Europe to help defend themselves. They can buy their guns anywhere they want. Yes, the US gives them aid as do some other sources and the Arab countries gives the Palestinians aid too. Sort of evens itself out especially when you consider the Arabs have more money to throw around there then the US does.

OK, I will get down off of my soapbox now. Hope you all have a nice day and I hope some of my words have caused some of you to think a little differently. I know we all need something different to happen there. What has been happening in the Middle East so far has not worked for anyone. The Arabs can point at the Jews all they want, so can the Jews point at the Arabs. Wont matter. Both sides need to grow up and SHARE the Holy Land. Period.

Environmentalists tend to focus their attention where it would get the best results. There's not much ROI for getting all worked up over a single act that is unlikely to be regularly repeated by a group that doesn't have a history of being exceptionally dangerous to the natural environment.

Because it isn't in their back yard.

I once told an environmentalist that we should use wood from our own forests for lumber because if we didn't then the people who needed lumber would buy it from Russian suppliers who would destroy 7 times as many trees to produce the same lumber, and he said that was better. Better to destroy 7 times as many Russian trees as 1 times American trees. He didn't even question my 7 to 1 ratio.

who would take responsibility for the cleanup? the oil company (who usually has to pay) wont because it was not their fault they got hit by a bomb. not the lebanese because it was israeli bombs that caused the damage. the israelis wont either because they were defending themselves by eliminating a threat, and would condsider the spills as collateral damage. middle eastern politics are sticky enough without throwing in a relatively insignificant oil spill.

They need to get after the whole world or forget it. A few countries cannot do it all.
Some of the small countries do a lot of polluting and don't even try to do their share to help the world.
