The county can collect child support you do not willingly pay by garnishing any earned income. That includes any income tax refunds, too.

Child support is not a tax.

Also, "vacation pay" is just another form of earnings which are subject to child support. If you take the time to read your divorce decree, I bet it states that child support is set at a flat amount per month or per paycheck. Your "vacation pay" is just a paycheck that you received while taking time off.

I'm willing to bet that if you are "sick" for a few days in a row, your child support deduction will be the same.

Is there a reason that you don't want to make your mandated child support payments?

If you are in arrears in child support, almost any source of funds or income you have can be attached to cover the shortfall. Your paycheck, tax refunds, bank account, investment accounts, etc. can all be docked to pay for your kids' support if you are behind.

I'll skip on the obvious wisecrack about going on vacation while your kids' support is behind.

yes, only in you are in arrears, and are not up to payment. Sometimes they can send it to the recipient directly. I have had friends who will get entire tax refunds sent to them because the father was behind on payments. Hope all works out
