I am more than halfway through college pursuing a degree in fine arts, however, I have been working as a clerk at a library for over 4 years and I like it. In order to get health benefits and such, I think I have to take the civil service exam right? Should I take it now? Because I heard that it's only given every few years (for clerk). Is it silly to take it if I am not necessarily looking for a job right now? I just want to be prepared once I graduate because I lose my health insurance.

As a response to one of the answers, I would love to have a career in art but unfortunately there is no security at all. I don't like graphic design or anything done on computers. I plan on doing art on the side for money but things may change. I will still need money for grad school so that would come from the library.
