Fallin_For_Nothing I'm not trying to change society thats impossible and no I don't go looking for compliments because what anyone else thinks of me is not important. (if someone gives me a compliment I say thank you and move on)

I think a big part of it is the media and the focus on looks. I think humans have always been attracted to pleasant looking people, but I'm afraid that's become the total focus. I've always said looks fade and personality is forever. I'll be honest--I'd probably be attracted to a guy who looked like Johnny Depp or David Duchovny, but if he turned out to be a zero in the personality department, I'd drop him. I think a lot of people no longer look beneath the surface.

Well mostly, we all like to be liked. Admit, you do too. When a complete stranger who has no idea who you are says "Wow, you're gorgeous" it makes you feel good inside. It's not the matter that everyone is obessed with what someone thinks, it's the matter that we've all wanted to be told we look good, some point in our life. I do, I really do, I guess because I like to be pointed out of a crowd and told I look amazing. Even when I think I don't, in someone else's eyes or opioion, I could be lovely, sexy, or anything else. I believe I'm ugly, but as far as I know, I've always been complimented. So....we can't help it...it's just something everyone does. Besides...you can't change how society thinks, even when it's killing you on the inside, you can't, people are always going to obess over silly things like that. So, don't worry, and just look at it from every angle possible. I mean I see your angle too. It's pointless because we really shouldn't care, but we do, and it is very annoying. I understand that. But I understand other people's views too. =]

I think that our society has become obsessed with those things that don't really matter and have let go of a lot of the things that are very important. I've lived long enough and been through a few trials by fire that I've learned some valuable life lessons along the way. I don't give a flip how "hot" someone looks. I want to know if they're trustworthy, honest, loyal, hard-working, and moral. I've learned to think for myself and to trust my decisions. I've learned to trust God. I've proven myself as a confident, strong woman, both in my personal life and in my professional life. I'm not in awe of any of the celebrities people rave about. I simply couldn't care less. I gave up all that silliness years and years ago!

As my special French teacher said, "When someone tries to intimidate you or want you to think they're more special than anyone else, just think about this as you look at them: Hey you...you put on your pants just like I do, one leg at a time".

Wow, since you made that question. That is a great question. And i wonder the same thing because as i am 13. I have noticed. That things change. Usally someone gets there first bf in 6th grade but that really changed everyone got theirs in 1st. And ppl do get mean. And you dont even know them. They ask those questions. And I really do think it loses ur self confidence if they say ur ugly or what ever. A boy has said i had a mustash. And i never wanted to show my face after ward. And he only said that cuz i said soemthing about him.but u do lose ur self condfidence when u get put down. =[

Its because people don't care about the inside anymore. I think we need to almost forget about the outsides. Some people just do it for good clean family fun, but some people do it because they are sexist or want to be so rude. To me people at my school start so many fake rumors about me I started to ignore me in the second grade. Yes I have gotten some comments from people saying "Oh my gosh you are the ugliest thing I have ever seen" When they say that to me I just think they are the ugly people for saying that. I never did one thing to them, but they just have to be "ugly" and come ruin my day. I am not really so worried about what someone else thinks of me because well, me is me. Its like a song I know Love Me For Me by Ashley Tisdale. People in this world are so rude some are so inconsiderate I mean finding out one day that somebody started a rumour that you kissed a boy in KINDERGARTEN! don't you think that is kind of a message saying insanity! This is a really good question and I think that the world should not ever be about juding but about loving. One thing I really can't believe is that some people go on questions like these and say shutup. When they say that i just think of them as ugly on the inside.
