As-salamualaikum, brothers and sisters.
I am just curious to know if all of your female cousins (specifically those who have reached puberty) wear the hijab. I am not talking about the female adults in your family---I am talking about your female teenage cousins.
Just wondering because I am the only teenager out of my extended family (meaning first cousins) who wears the hijab, which is kind of sad because it is a rule that all girls must cover. They do their prayers and read the Quran and etc, but are not very conservative.
I would appreciate it greatly if the Islam bashers would kindly keep their comments to themselves.

{{Mew25}} MashAllah sister. You are doing a very good thing, and you are the only Muslim in your family too! I always hold great respect in my heart for Muslim reverts.

{{Ranoush}} Dearest sister, thank you very much for your beautiful answer. I also hope that my cousins will someday realize how important it is to cover. May Allah guide us all to the right path.

Wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatuillahi wa barakatu
I'm with Mew....I'm only muslim in my family. In my community, most people start the girls wearing hijab to the masjid very early, and about half of the teenagers in our community cover in some form...some cover hair, but still wear jeans, but others wear skirts and long sweaters/tunic shirts. Most grown women wear jilbab or abaya.
Salam alaykum wa rahmatuillahi wa barakatu

Aslaamuakum. Hey I wear Hijab and my 3 sisters and mom do too. But Sadly by aunts and cousins don't. Inshallah may Allah show them the guidance and importance of wearing Hijab...I have cousins who are way older and some like 17, 18 who don't cover.

I was just like you. I wore the hijab when I was 13. Because none of my cousins were wearing it, people thought I was forced. I always wanted to wear it, and Alhamdulillah Allah has guided me. A few months ago one of my 14-year-old cousin wore it. She wanted to but she was also forced a little bit by her father. He told her you are becoming a woman now and you need to cover. She starting to like it. Oh and one last teenage cousin here in america that wore it at 16. She was at a get together and they were talking about hijab, and Alhamdulillah she wore it ever since. Alhamdulillah she wore it, I just wish I was the one that convinced her. ;-) I didn't think she would wear it because she was all into hairstyles and stuff. So that shows never underestimate a person. Okay, hope that helps. Wassalamu alaykum.

All the teenage girls in my family wear a hijab except me. I am the only of my cousins who live in America.
My mom wanted me to wait because she thinks I'm young and she wants to keep me in my "youthfulness" and when I can be classified as a "woman" I can wear mine.
My mom's cousin's daughter, who is married with two children doesn't wear one though and my mom cousins two other daughters who are 17 and 19 don't wear one either.

Please don't do this. Don't care about them or anything. You sound just like my one cousin who thinks they are all better because her dad forced her to wear a hijab.
Just worry about yourself. And yes it is sad. I wish that men can have something like the Hijab to show there faith. Some women don't understand what god has given them...
And if you ever watch arabic tv....in the ramadan show, Bab al Hara
the lil girls were the face covering one all black and everything
Oh yeah my sister wore it when she got married by choice and many others do to,,,,,very horibally
I knew a girl who shall remaned nameless who danced in a area of Cleveland "The Flats" that is all clubs,. and with her hijab shes my cousin, shamely

No. My nieces all wear the hijab aside from my 2 year old niece. All the women in my family wear the Abaya, hijab and Niqab. All the men in my family wear the traditional Saudi dress as well.

Allhamdulillah most of my cousins wear hijab and few even wear niqab also.
But yeah it is sad to know that most of younger generation (not in my family) take it as burden as what i see in my surroundings in my college and neighborhood. They think that by covering themselves they will have less fun in their life and people will take it as backwardness. I think it is mainly fault of their parents who don't teach them true meaning of Islam from the beginning.
May Allah show them right path.

Well i know it sounds wrong, but my aunts and grandparents wear the hijab..or just scarf i guess.
Umm me and my cousins sadly do not, i guess its cause we have been born here, and right now if we start it would be something weird, but not in a bad way. One of my cousins who now lives in Saudi Arabia does wear a borqua, you know why.
I know it is the rule, i do feel bad to wear, but its not like i wear mini skirts to school, cause thats haram (bad), but i do wear jeans and t-shirt.
It is cool to meet you!

Alhamdurillah my whole family wears one. Some of my cousins didn't before and Allah guided them to the right path. I also think all girls who are balig (puberty) should wear one. because it is mandatory but people think its not.
