Americana, like Norman Rockwell, Amish quilts, baseball, US flags.
Cities & travel: Paris, New York, London, Venice, Chicago...
Fantasies like fairies, angels, castles & knights, mermaids & nymphs...
Music & dancing
Nature
Romance
Vintage & retro posters, old ads for Coke, old movie stars.

there are many many themes....only YOU can decide what appropriate! usually fabrics and bedding are chosen first. they will often dictate the theme and color palette.

a lot depends on YOUR personality - do you have a favorite photo.....I like to work with that and go from there for colors.
Serene and spa like, very quiet calming colors.....blues and greens work nicely.
