is this a doctrine of some sort cos i keep getting this from many christians yet as a catholic christian this sounds totally illogical to me.
using this logic a 5yr old (who knows stealing is wrong) if he/she steals a cookie from the corner shop will therefore be as disgusting (and deserving of the same punishment) to the Lord God as (for example) a "rapist" or a "murderer" of a 5yr old thief?
Even man's laws can see the difference!!
TOTALLY ILLOGICAL that God will judge it equally abhorrent
be interesting to hear from atheist and non-christians too

so a 5yr according to your view of who God is and how He judges sin would condemn a 5yr old to the eternity of hell, i know you dont believe in "purgatory" so i guess she gets just desserts as a rapist and murderer?

(the) God (you believe in) will judge a 5yrs old theif and an adult murder/rapist with equal abhorrence therefore both (without repentence) wil be condemn to the eternal fire of damnation"

i agree with you "sin is sin and all sin is abhorrent to God" i know that you know that. what you dont seem to comprehend is the "not all sin is EQUALLY abhorrent to God" a sin committed by a 5yrold is not as abhorrent as the sin of an adult. your humanity should tell you that but obviously you guys would rather stick to your doctrines than use your common sense.
i am truelly shocked that you can still claim to be christians and follow this doctrine.

God measures and weighs the motives in a persons heart against what he/she knows. God gives every one a conscience.
Scripture says, "To him who KNOWS what is good to do and does it not, to him, is sin". Same as those who KNOW what is wrong to do,and knows the consequences, yet he/she goes ahead and does it any ways, regardless, he/she sins if they do it.
A 5 yr old does not know the full difference between all right and wrong things yet or the consequences of his or her actions, as they are still a child and still learning.They don't have any experience, their memory only starts at around age 3. How much could they have possible learned and know by then?
A 10 or 12 yr old however, does, though the age varies per person, each person comes to know these things, by their conscience and experiences (unless they are born with mental retardation, or such, they may be slower coming of age but each child has their own conscience to bear witness to them even if they've never been told).
God protects the innocent and shields them from harm,
For example, It is impossible for a 5 yr old to fully know why stealing is wrong while he/she sees his/her own parents steal. This child's parents will be held accountable. A child at 5 may be told stealing is wrong but his/her logic and theory conducting part of the brain is still too young and immature to fully know and comprehend "why" it's wrong because little children haven't yet developed enough, or lived long enough to know the difference between and have not yet experienced and learned for themself, exactly what "right AND wrong" is
Little children are innocent and can't be judged with the same judgment as a full grown adult. They are still learning from mistakes, by trial and error, which we all did as a small child in order that we may come to know the truth.
A child is innocent before God up until the age he/she is fully able to comprehend and make the complete distinction between right and wrong.
God is Just and Fair. He's not going to hold anything against a person that doesn't know any better, or hold anyone accountable for things they never knew.
We are responsible for what we know. God knows the intentions of our hearts and thoughts better than we do. That's why He is Judge over what is and what isn't, and not man.

Well, I don't believe it. I'm LDS. I think it is twisting some scriptures into an incorrect meaning. I mean, the scriptures say that God can't look on any sin with the least degree of allowance, and also that all have fallen short of perfection (and thus need the Saviour). However, that doesn't mean all sin is equally "endarkening" or that all sin will be punished equally. For example, we have been told that God will reward us for our deeds (Romans 2:6 - http://scriptures.lds.org/en/rom/2/6#6 ). That kind of indicates a judgement that takes into account more than just "sinner" or "saved."
You're right, that pseudo-doctrine is a non-Biblical extrapolation that doesn't make any sense at all.
Can anyone quote the Bible verse/s that state that "doctrine"?
EDIT to Summer Breeze: If judgement/condemnation was as simple as "Have you accepted Jesus or not?" then why would Jesus tell us not to judge? Why would judgement be left up to an All-Wise God if judgement was that simple?

here we have drunk people getting the same sentence as
a murder....and by ANY measure not ALL drunk people
hurt anyone...

here we have people that have pre-martial sex lumped in
with thieves and being denied heaven...
there are more verses besides these...as you can see in all of these it doesn't matter the level...everyone will end up in hell
for whatever reason big or small.
sin is sin....
that said.....if God chooses to send someone to hell at the age
of 5....thats God's RIGHTEOUS judgment and i wont question
him about it....How the Lord handles minors is up to him and
him alone........NOT that we would even know this while alive
were NEVER gonna know this till judgment day...
so when you hit an age of understanding you had better get right with the LORD before its too late...

Why is that totally illogical? I'm an Atheist, but I think your perception is very subjective.
Murder might cause a great negative emotional reaction, then prevent a great deal of pain which might have been felt twenty to a thousand years down the road. A lie may cause a minimal reaction today, and thirty years later weigh into somebody's opinion of humanity to cause a maelstrom of trouble--a small lie can create a Hitler with enough other compounding forces.
This is probably one of the only scriptural axioms which I sort of agree with.

There are greater and lesser sin but even the lesser sin makes you unworthy of eternal salvation. It's hard to think about the sin of children but we are born into a sinful world. God judges accordingly and there are consequences. I don't think we can fully comprehend the ways of God. I know He judges according to your knowledge of Him.

Sin is sin, no matter what the wrongful act is. In the eyes of God, all sin is wickedness. God will judge those who deny Him; those outside of Christ. Those who are saved and will be saved have already been judged. Their judgment is their salvation from Christ. Remember the commandment "Thou shalt not steal" and "Thou shalt not kill". Both are sinful acts and all sin is abhorrent to God. He condemns ALL sin!

if you sin, you sin right?
it's like hitting the target of perfection. if you sin, you miss. whether your arrow (or dart if you prefer) is 10 ft away or 20 ft away, you still missed.
in school, whether you get a 5% or a 25%, it's still an F.

Get away from the Catholic stuff, and read your Bible, in prayer, and asking the Holy Spirit to give you Understanding. Do not ask any other persons dead or alive for an understanding, that means no saints, and no Mother Mary. Now, you will have to do this for some time, but at the end of your journey. You will understand.
