I am doing an important presention in a few weeks and I need to put a video in powerpoint.

I used a great site and downloaded the video to my computer and converted the file, but when I insert it in the slideshow only the music plays. The video screen remains all black.

Can somebody help me?

i just don't understand how the sound came through but the images didn't.

Hi,

PowerPoint uses a particular player for movies. On Mac it's Quicktime. On Windows it's a different player.

It sounds like the movie file uses a codec that PowerPoint's player doesn't support.

Try exporting the movie into something more widely supported such as .avi

YOu don't say what version, but it will be the same. You should go into Master view, slide master and from there, insert, picture from file and double click on the file icon when you find it. Resize as appropriate to fill the slide, remembering to do it from corner so it stays in proportion, right button of mouse, send to back ,but depending on colouring, you may need to make it less bright, i.e. change transparency in order that your text and other objects are legible over it. By setting up your master, all other slides conform to it. If however you don't want the same picture on all slides, just insert it on whichever slide you want. You can also if you don't want to use the master, right click on a slide, or on the master (not in a placeholder) down to background, click on picture, navigate to where it is and bring it in that way.
