A little bit related?

Not quite. The Shih-tzu did not come from just breeding two breeds together and calling it a Shih-tzu. Even though it did originate from other breeds, it evolved after many generations into its own unique breed. Breeding a Lhasa and a Pekingnese does NOT give you a Shih-tzu.

Shih Tzu Lhasa Apso Mix

All dogs are related. Shih Tzus were developed quite a long time ago by mixing these two breeds (likely with some others). Here's the AKC's page on Shih Tzu history:
http://www.akc.org/breeds/shih_tzu/history.cfm

The Lhasa Apso/Pekingese mix is still a mixed breed. Yes, they may look like Shih Tzus, but they aren't. It takes generations of breeding and work to come up with a new breed.

Lhasa Apso Shih Tzu Mix

So they are calling them hybrids now are they? What's wrong with calling them Cross breeds which is what they are?
No the Lhasanese isn't a Shih Tzu it's just a mix of the two dogs that many generations (Dog not human) back were used in the production of the Shih Tzu. To become a recognised breed several different crosses using different dogs would be bred and then those crosses would be bred with each other, then the resulting pups would be bred to other third generation pups and so on. Eventually after several more generations the genetics become 'fixed' and that would produce the new breed.
Hope that explains the difference.

Not true. You cannot create one breed by mixing two other breeds. Mixing a Lhasa and a Peke creates nothing more than a mixed breed dog.

You seem to be missing the words 'developed from' in the article. This means people worked for generations to create the dog breed and the parent breeds are Lhasas and Pekes. A new breed does not result from a one time breeding.

Edit: Related? They were at one time I suppose but now the breeds are quite different in reguards to their gene pool. They're related in the sense that they're all dogs of the same group (toy) and, I believe, all created for the purpose of being lap dogs but otherwise, nope. Not related.

Look further on the first website, under ACHC Recognized Hybrids, and you will find that it lists the Lhasa Apso and Pekingese hybrid as a Lhasanese. Further down the list is the Shih Tzu, and its mix with other breeds. Sorry, I got to go with dog breeders info. Generally speaking, they know their stuff. As for Britannica information...years ago, I bought a set of Encyclopedia Britannica. So did a friend of mine down the street. We started comparing them after they were delivered. We found the same picture in the same article in both our sets...totally different information describing what was taking place in the picture. Not very impressed at the time, and have no reason to be impressed now. In other words, I don't believe them.

no, its not a hybrid. a hybrid is a cross between two different species.

there is a big difference between a shih tzu and a lhasanese.

one was created through careful screening and the other was created by just breeding 2 dogs together to create something with a cutesie name to make money.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU8jc

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.
