It should take no more than 24-48 hours for the radiologist to dictate the report and for the report to be typed up. From there, it is sent to your doctor. Sometimes a report is sent to a doctor's office and it gets mislaid or placed in someone else's chart. Call your doctor's office and ask them to have another report sent if they can't find it. Explain that you are anxious for the results. If they give you the runaround, just go to place where you had the MRI done and ask for a copy of the report. You have a legal right to it as long as you sign a release.

I've had 2 MRI's at Kaiser and had them both read immediately. Otherwise some doctors may take up to a few days, but there is no excuse for not hearing from your doctor for 10 days afterwards! You'll have to be proactive and call your doctor's office until you get your results.
I think that's very inconsiderate and terrible of your doctor to make you wait and wait like this. You are in pain and you can't figure out the course of treatment until he/she gets back to you!

Oh, goodness! Call your doctor's office and ask politely for your results. Then call again and ask a little less politely. It is not acceptable to go ten days without getting the results of your MRI and they kow it. Sometimes you have to push a little for "customer service," even when it is a doctor.

All the above answers are good. You have been lost in the shuffle of paperwork and a busy office. Go ahead and call for the report, then call again or go get your copy. Those of us in medicine work for you. You are the boss.

Call him ten days is too long to wait -- that would have been read and returned to him with 3-4 days.
