No the vet only said do not let him jump on or off of anything and stitches come out in 7-10 days. Plus vet went on vacation.

He'll be ok. My boy broke his leg years ago too, and he's fine. Hope he will just rest and stay off of it. The pin helps it heal and can come out many weeks down the road. When he wanted on the couch, Daddy made the cushions into steps so he could easily get up and down there. Just baby him and make sure he doesn't try to use that leg too much.

I don't know about a broken femur specifically. My kitten had knee surgery 2 weeks ago and had pins put in. She is on a 'strict exercise restriction' to quote her discharge papers. We keep her in a 4ft dog crate to minimize her walking and keep her from running and jumping. She does limp some when she walks, but less than she did a week ago. Her staples were taken out today and they said all looks good and she's walking ok. We were told we can start letting her out for walks in 2 weeks but no running and jumping for another 2mos at least after that. As they put it, the soft tissue is healing (the surgical site) but now the bones need time to mend.

Take good care of your baby. Fortunately mine is a lap kitty so we can take her out of the crate, take off the horrid e-collar, and let her groom and clean herself (keeping her away from the stitches). It gives her a change of pace and she's happy to spend time with us.

Sounds like he is bouncing back rather well.

He should be up and moving around and trying to put some weight on his newly mended leg.
Cats totally amaze me knowing themselves better then we could ever understand.
Cats will not Intentionally hurt themselves... he will know when enough is enough.
YES he will limp for a bit, because I am sure it hurts... I am positive he is well on his way back to normal health.

Like the vet said NO jumping... no climbing... Kittens can get silly at times.

Best of Luck

I would give your vet a call, they should have given you a follow up appointment. One of my cats got hit by a car reversing out of the parking area and hit her back leg, after her op she had to have cage rest for two weeks as she wasn't allowed to put to much weight on the leg or any jumping which cats do all the time. lucky for me my daughter works at a kennels and was able to loan me a cage.

you're quiet full of your self Mr "candy guy" - in step with risk you may comprise on your paragraph a pair extra cases that it grew to become into "because of the fact of her." You for sure are not giving Yahoo solutions the completed tale, so why complication typing up this drivel? For some regret from people who don't be responsive to you or your lady pal in any respect? okay, i'm going to play a lengthy. "forget that female, you're way too candy for her."- happy?
