Yes, you can receive a ticket.
Passing a stopped school bus, in all states, is a very serious crime. You can end up paying fines from $100 to $1000, all depending on the state in which you live. Also, this violation places many points bn your driving license. If you receive a certain amount of points over a specific time period, you can lose your license to drive.
The bus driver probably reported you to the local police station as soon as she finished her route or she probably called the station. The bus driver can provide witnesses to testify against you. Also, the driver's word can be sufficient to convict you.
If you take it to court, you may can get the charge lowered to careless driving, but I would not bank on it.
Good luck.

You've seen some stops that have a white line painted on the road designating where to stop? Well if there is no white line, pretend like there is. In your head imagine it running along the lign of the Stop sign. You should stop with the front of your car right on the line. Your car should not be past the stop sign at all. Once you come to a complete stop, you can roll forward slowly and stop again if you need to see past an obstacle.

If you were paying so little attention that you didn't automatically look for the sign and flashing lights on the school bus, you would likely have hit a child if one walked out. This is a serious, serious lapse. You will get a biig ticket, and points on your licence. I suggest you take this as a major lesson that your concentration needs improving.

You will likely get a ticket with a fine and points on your license. And if the bus driver got your tag number, he WILL report you.
In many states, bus drivers are required by law to report any offenders, whether they want to or not.
And by the way, if you did not see a big yellow bus with red flashing lights and a stop sign protruding from the side, then you should not be driving on the road.
(if you can't see that, then what else are you not seeing?)

You will probably get a ticket because one of the first things required in driving is to be "in complete control of your vehicle at all times" and you were not paying attention so you were not in control of you car. Pay the ticket, call it a "lesson not to be forgotten" and count your blessings that there were no children around.

yes you can get a ticket. what happens as far as punishment goes depends on the laws in your state. the law says you must stop when the red lights are flashing . i will say this though it should be illegal for the bus drivers to sit there talking to kids parents with the red lights on. and you should always pay attention when you driving.

Yes, you can get a major ticket. Ontario has the fine set $1000 (but it can go as high as $2000) and 6 demerit points. Your insurance company WILL NOTICE this one, and adjust your rates accordingly.

"I wasn't paying attention"
That says it all right there. It does not matter how many kids got off, you wouldn't have seen them.
Yes, you can (probably will) get a ticket.
You should also be taught to drive properly, but they don't usually go there.
