I used to take my Husky mix (50lbs) to the park daily. She is very well adjusted and loves to play with other dogs and people.
A little over a month ago a German Shepherd attacked her and 2 other dogs at the dog park unprovoked. There wasn't any damage done to her physically, just psychologically apparently. She now hates German Shepherds.
If I take her to the park and there are no GSs, she plays with the other dogs and people and seems to have fun.
If I take her to the park and there IS a GS, she is very on edge for a minute or two then gets aggressive and growls ant every dog that comes near her. I immediately pull her out and take her home.
What’s the best way to get her back into the swing of things with GSs? I take her there to sniff and greet them, but after a minute or two she becomes very defensive no matter how calm the GSs are.

Slowly take her around German Shepards. Start with a 1 minute session and remove her. Next time 2 minutes and remove her. Slowly increase the time spent around the GS. She will realize that she can be around the dogs without incident.
Also the is always provocation in a dog fight at a dog park. Unless as soon as the GS was let off the leash it ran directly in and slammed the dogs, which I dont see happening since the owner wouldnt have been at the dog park. Whether your dog and the others wouldnt submit to the GS or the GS go it foot stepped on or ran into by the other dogs. Something happened to cause it. Also it could have just been simply an older dominant dog letting the other dogs know that it had had enough of something or they werent acting right. Since there were no injuries I wouldnt call it an attack. There were signs givin before the scuffle, someone should be there to read them and stop them before they escalate.

Your dog will never forget about a thing like that. Whenever you guys go to the park and see a GS, just walk past them. Try showing her that there is nothing different about GSs. Once you do that for a while, whenever you see a GS, act nice and pet it. Your dog should see that there is nothing to hate about them if you like them. It will be hard because dogs aren't the kind to forgive and forget . It will take some time.

It's just going to take some time. Keep doing what you are doing.
She may always be this way. It doens't take much to freak dogs out. They do have medication that is more like a treat that calms dogs down in situations where they normally get nervous. Ask your vet about it.
Good luck

I would be very skeptical about a situation like that if I were in a dog's shoes. It would take months for me to get along with a person if they hurt me in anyway. Dog's react similarly...
My dog doesn't seem to have fun with any dog at all, she growls and acts 10x's her size when sees any dog.
After a few months, your dog's behavior should be normal again around german sherpherds. Dog's are very forgiving animals...
My dog has been in a situation...a little similar to yours.
My grandma was cutting my dog's hair and accidentally cut a piece of her ear...of course, my dog was in pain and stayed away from my grandma for weeks...
And after a month or two, she's happy and fine again :)
Hope your dog will be comfortable again.

Don't go to the dog park. Dog parks are a dangerous place for dogs.
What your dog experienced is unfortunate, but commonplace in dog parks.
Your dog is becoming aggressive because she doesn't trust your leadership as YOU failed to protect her. You should see a professional trainer about this.

I would say to keep her at home for a little and make sure she stays calm and unworried and still take her to the park every week or so and just keep her calm like bringing some treats or maybe you could try a different method of calming to keep her mellow.

You need to find an obedience class that is run by someone good with Animal Behavior- local Vets should be able to point you in the correct direction. Your dog needs to get her confidence back, with out an increase in aggression.
She will need to be able to take her orders from you about what dogs to trust.
Good luck!

Just keep doing what you're doing; in time she will relax but I doubt she will ever feel the same toward the breed but may come to an amicable encounter phase.

find a g s owner and explain the situation and ask if they would mind if you introduced your dog to it. try to associatate the meeting with good things, try giving her treats for not being aggressive and then if she does let her know you dislike her attitude. Hopefully she will come around, she just needs a bit of reassurance....
