okay, calm down. i have a cocker spainel/ sheepdog, who is 3 today. she acted much in the same way as yours. she destroyed my bed, my dad's couch(when i lived with him), electrical cords to my computer, my cell phone, i could go on. i finally had to buy her a crate. i thought at first she would be pissed with me and throw a temper tantrum, but she actually loves it. it's her space. try giving your dog a space to call his own, you must be firm in your commands! i found that she needed those tough commands, and she started to listen. it' took me about 6 months to properly train her. but every now and again she tries my patients. good luck to you. and happy holidays.

Spaniels are highly strung but I think you know that now!

You need to be the boss and it's as much as about training you as it is him. You need to get booked into some training classes and I don't mean 6 weeks but commit to a long commitment and you will end up with a well behaved dog.

I got a recued collie cross who was "A jack the lad who needed to learn how to be behave", who went for anything that walked past him and looked at me arrogantly if I told him to do anything.

6 months of basic and then behavioural training turned him into an absolutely smashing dog that I could trust implicity to behave and never let me down.

But like I said to you, I had to learn just as much as him, probably more infact. Don't give up, it will be such a satisfaction in the end trust me.

He needs training and also something to keep him occupied.
Cocker Spaniels are easily trainable and generally willing to do as their owner wants them too.

It sounds as though Alfie has few boundaries and is turning into an adolescent dog. Be patient and consistent in your traing.

Welcome to the 'Kevin the teenager' stage!

The only thing I can realy advise is to take him along to obedience training classes.

Your dog is an intelligent boy and needs stimulation - the devil finds work for idle paws and teeth I'm afraid, so by taking a bit of time out each day for some training you will be giving him something else to think about other than his quest to destroy your home and belongings!

This stage will pass (eventually!) but please do take him along to training classes.

Good luck!
