Yesterday my heating was off. In all of the Korean's room, the heaters are on. Is this just me, or do you all have the same problem? Does anyone have a good strategy of making a formal complaint, so that it may be turned back on? They said they don't know when it will be turned back on, it could be months. I have human rights. Are these people mental?

I should be more polite. Are these people mental, or am I mental.

It's at a public elementary school in the country with the EPIK programme.

This morning we sang and did star jumps at the same time. Then around 3 pm today, the HEATER is WORKING!
Yes, we have air con in the summer, but mine was a pathetic corner unit, but the ones that are mounted in the ceilings are very good.

Last time I was sick and took a day off my co-teacher rang and had more than a terse tone on her voice. They really don't like sick days, and there's payback for it.

That's weird. A lot of my friends work in public schools and none of them have reported this problem.

I would very politely and deferentially talk to your principle or co-teacher and try to have the issue resolved. If this doesn't work contact your recruiter or EPIK folks and ask about it.

Of course, a fair amount of schools in Korea don't offer heat or air conditioning, but if other teachers have it...

You might also want to look on Dave's ESL ( eslcafe.com) they might have some suggestions about the best way to handle this situation.

Wow...do you actually mean by this that there are heated classrooms in Korea? In Japan no schools except Hokkaido have heaters. So, do you have air con in the summer too?

Get sick and don't show up for a few days.
