Michelle you are doing the right thing. Prozac is very good and will help you through this anxiety.
Councilling will also help, but you should try Yoga, its a great way to control your breathing and heart rate. I know because I have been through anxiety and come out the other side.
If you cannot face going to a class then buy a D.V.D just as good to get you started. Think about relaxing music. It all helps, honestly.
You may only need to be on meds for six weeks and there are no side effects. Check out some natural remedies for when you come off these tablets.
Staying off all caffeine helped me, it slowed down my heart rate . You have to take one day at a time and if you can go for short walks, the fresh air works wonders. Keep a diary and put down how you felt during the day and how you slept, it
can help and point you to triggers that start off these feelings.
If you ever need to chat to me then e.mail me, I do understand where you are coming from and I would be happy to chat. Godbless.xxx

I've been on and off it for 2 years - its not addictive and you can quit at any time (although not suddenly) - it may take up to 2 weeks for you to feel any benefit, your dose may need to be varied or it may not work at all and you'll have to try another medication until you find the magic combination which will alleviate most of your problems. There are some side effects but they tend to dissapear over the course of 2 weeks to a month, those are mainly drowsiness. It will most likely affect your sex drive so be prepared for that. Good luck.

Don't worry, I went through the same thing and was worried as well. But Prozac is the best I have ever tried. You will love it. Little to no noticeably side effects and it truly saved my life years ago when I had an eating disorder. I stopped cold turkey (not adviseable though) when pregnant with my son and I had no issues. It is highly unlikely you will become addicted to it. After my son was born 8 months ago I suffered from PPD. I went on it again and it has helped tremendously. Good for you for taking charge of your situation.

Should be fine - it takes a couple of weeks for them to really start working.
Get someone to keep an eye on your bills etc if you can, when I was on them I couldn't give a darn if I was getting red-letters, nothing phased me ! Family had to sort everything !
It's not addictive and it does work.
Edit - we do have Prozac in England

Been in your shoes. Good luck w/ the prozac. If if doesn't help within a week, go back to the doc. I took Celexa instead. Best wishes for you- anxiety or depression suck.

Prozac is not addictive. You will have side effects at first, but they will lessen in severity over time. Just be patient, Prozac doesn't start working right away.

Give the Prozac a chance. It may take a few weeks for the full therapeutic effect to kick in. Hang in there. Speak with your doctor, he/she may be able to expedite things with your counselor.

Good for you!
You are taking care of yourself.
Part of your anxiety probably makes you worry about medication. Please try not to worry. A doctor prescribed it for you because he/she thinks you need it and it will help you feel better. I am sorry you have to wait so long to see a therapist. You may feel a sense of relief now that you are getting help. Best Wishes
