In contrast to the other replies given on interracial relationships, a web site called Ask Gramps provides this answer to interracial marriage:
"The Brethren have discouraged interracial marriages. I would expect that the principal reason would be that the greater the differences in background and culture, the less would be the probability of success in the marriage relationship, as is indicated by the remarks of President Spencer W. Kimball, below. President Kimball speaks about interracial marriages in the context of the American Indian, and Elder Bruce R. McConkie refers to interracial marriages with those of African descent. Although the examples are given in the context of specific races, there is no doubt that the counsel given applies to any two races with different cultures."
"Gramps" is a former bishop, stake president, high councilman, with other callings in the Church, as well as having occupations and sidelines as a scientist and a pilot. His website, www.askgramps.org/, is a most informative look at common and uncommon questions and answers about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
One may not always like the answers given, but they do reflect an authoritative approach toward doctrine and practices in the Church. I believe you can bank on more qualified answers from "Gramps" than you can from this forum's Q and A.

The Mormon Church is not a racist church. I'm Mormon, and my wife is black. We were married in a Mormon temple, where the officiator told us that God approved of our marriage. My wife is treated well at church, as are the other African American members of our congregation. I've had a black bishop in several different Mormon congregations of which I've been a member.
Many anti-Mormons, however, intentionally misrepresent Mormon teachings in an attempt to discredit Mormonism. I've written about this type of discrimination on my site at http://www.allaboutmormons.com/brief_critique_anti-mormon_propaganda.php . Pay careful attention to the video at http://www.allaboutmormons.com/ENG_Video62.php .

I easily have had girlfriends of all types: eastern, chinese language, Indian, Black, White. So I approve! yet your mum and dad do no longer, so the subsequent question is whether or no longer you are the right age to act independently . . .? The cutoff element for this, in all probability, is once you pass to varsity. inspite of our undesirable historical past in this, race mixing is the wave of the destiny in usa. a huge proportion of the human beings pronounced as African-American in this usa easily have some white mixture, because of the fact of what went on in the time of the time of slavery. (Slave masters had skill over slave females.) Likewise, many white human beings have some interior of reach American mixture already. and then, there have been those wars. GIs delivered returned better halves from Japan, from Korea, from Viet Nam, and many of their little ones are between us suitable now with out specific tags indicating pedigree -- so we would think of they are white, or we would think of they are Korean. And now i understand numerous circumstances of yankee females who married college scholars from places like Pakistan.

They're actually not against it. Mormons don't deserve the flack they get from other religions. Especially the Christians. They're good-hearted, wholesome people, in general.
My only beef with 'em is... They say we pick our parents before we're born... but if that were so, that would make them right, and wouldn't we all just wait until we could be born into Mormon families and save ourselves the hell-bound ticket to eternal suffering by choosing to be born into a non-Mormon family?

They are not officially against it, but they do advise you not to search for ony one who has been raised in a different culture. They say this because it makes it more difficult to maintain a functional marriage. I have heard this from various Mormon sources. The point has some validity, but no one should look to an organization to make their life decisions for them.

When they come knocking you can ask them yourself. I remember asking about a verse in the book of Mormon regarding dark skin people being evil, they say that this is no longer church doctrine, yet the passage still exists, very interesting?

That we are all children of God -- regardless of race, color, nationality, etc.
The Mormon Church has no problem with marriage between races.
