Most locations will have some sort of phones or computer service available to the troops. Though, depending on working computers, como blackouts, missions, ect... a troop might not access to a computer all the time.

Though, I am in Iraq right now and writting this, so it is possible.

The do have internet service in Iraq. However it is not always up and running. Not all camps have internet access. Depending on his job he may be moving around place to place. With the holidays right around the corner the lines to use them will get longer and longer.
This guy may be true or just BSing. The majority of people using the computers are emailing family/friends they have known for awhile. Usually not someone they just meant.
I would be careful with the situation for now.

Of course they have access to computers, and depending on where they are, they might even have time to be on them.

One of my exes was in Iraq for the last year, and we chatted a LOT online. I'm also friends with his wife, by the way, so I know that he was actually in Iraq.

They do have downtime there, and the fighting isn't fierce all over Iraq, just in certain areas.

Depends on what base he is at. Some have access, some don't. Depends on his unit. Some bust their humps in the field 24/7, some don't... That would tell you if he has access, and more important... time to be online...
