Let's face it. The war on drugs is a waste of money and we know that prohibition doesn't work. People will always use mind-altering substances no matter what. Why does the government continue to spend billions and billions on a war that will never be won and that creates more problems such as inner city crime, gang violence, turf wars, etc?

I'm on your side-- the government has been fighting a war that they're never going to win for decades. It seems to me that if the government really didn't want people to use drugs that they would treat the cause instead of the symptom. However, I believe that in criminalizing drugs the government stands to profit more, through fines and court costs. I also personally believe that a large quantity of the illicit drugs that are consumed are provided by the government. It stands to reason that they would profit greatly from the seizure and resale of their own products.

it is an irresponsible waste of taxpayer's funds, which could be spent here interior the united kingdom, no longer despatched to remote places international places who in no way make any attempt to help their very own human beings. The leaders of such international places are rich and don't care approximately their very own human beings, why might they whilst the west is so beneficiant? that's a bottomless pit and the call for for help is in no way ending, whilst the british voters face much extra cuts in public centers and extremely some fee rises. Britain could look after their very own first and maximum useful, we could continually supply up gifting away funds we will not arise with the money for at a time of austerity. additionally, we could continually supply up giving out reward to non-british voters, they could the two artwork or bypass lower back to the place they got here from. Too many come here to take advantage of the gadget whilst taking advantage of the NHS and our colleges etc. that's not racist basically being reasonable. in the experience that your loved ones have been tightening their belts, the final concern you would be doing is making issues worse through gifting away funds to buddies, incredibly antagonistic ones, who did no longer something to help themselves whilst your guy or woman family contributors existed on a pittance. look after your guy or woman and allow something of the international look after themselves.

I'm a Police Officer and I actually agree with you. However, I don't subscribe to spending money especially tax money on addicts to recover though. I think every single drug on the planet should be legal and available to tax. If crack was legal tomorrow I wouldn't go out and buy it. If parents raise their children to know the dangers of drugs as well as the schools and someone is stupid enough to take drugs then to bad for them. If they ever did make drugs legal though I'd want required drug screening for jobs related to other people's safety though. I also know drug related crime would go down and I would enjoy watching the drug dealer actually have to go out and get a job instead of being a domestic terrorist terrorizing neighborhoods by slinging it.

Heck no.

If someone wants to snort and sniff himself to death, I say have at it.

I don't want to pay for their treatment. I say legalize everything, tax it, open stores to sell it, set up areas where the junkies can shoot themselves off the face of the earth.

End of the "war on drugs", end of most crime, end of drive by shootings and gang warfare...

It would release our law enforcement people to tend to the matters of keeping the citizens safe and enforcing the laws that matter.

Taking drugs is a choice.......if someone wants to do it, too bad about him....what do I care.

You have the right idea but simply making the drugs legal would be a much better solution. The main reason drugs are expensive now is because they are illegal. If drugs were legal they'd be dirt cheap and we wouldn't need to worry about subsidizing a habit that resulted from a violation of the law that was put in place to prevent the said habit from ever taking root in the first place.

How about a fence and port security? Once that is up and running, there would be tons of money for treatment programs, but we have to keep the stuff out first.

Yes, we should take a good look at other countries that are more successful. Unfortunately people in power seem to have something to gain from drugs.
