Because the politicians reflect the sort of society which we live in now sadly. The virtues Churchill displayed and valued are dwindling in our present society.
Superficialness rules the day so we get superficial politicians.

There are lots like Churchill in Government and the opposite benches .They can be found propping up the various bars in Westminster .And there was one they would not listen to him
(as with Churchill in the 30s`) until it is too late (then Hitler)
today . the immigration debacle .

Ooh I forgot, what we need is another war ..oops I forgot we have one ,looks like it will last a lot longer than the world wars combined

Politicians nowadays are more interested in stopping people from smoking tobacco. I would like to have seen them tell Churchill to do that. It was something up with which he would not put, I'm sure.

Churchill was a complete b@stard. if it was left up to him he would have machine gunned the hunger marchers. and he also provoked Hitler to bomb London. lied to every one about what was going on in Germany and used lies and propaganda to get every one on side. the man was a war monger. he wanted the second world war. he had a childish fantasy about being the man to save England. EXCEPT!! Hitler wasn't attacking England and until constantly provoked, and insulted. (never intended to in the first place.) SO!! i recon he would have done exactly what Blair did. and he's lies would have placed him in a prominent position in the labour party.
