Not necessarily. Some people with epilepsy are mentally disabled, some are not.

A co-worker of mine has epilepsy and he has at least a 4 year college degree.

No, not in the slightest. Being mentally disabled means that you have a mental health problem that causes major impairment in some way. Epileptics can do almost anything they want, including drive cars if they get a note from their doctor saying their epilepsy is controlled through medication. So don't let your issue keep you from living a good life.

I would think of it as structurally disabled.
Some part of your brain is causing the epilepsy.
This could have an emotional affect on you secondary to the epilepsy. You could be mentally disabled in some other way.
If you are having problems doing the day to day life activities, there could be something emotional going on. I hope this helps.

Yes! yes, you are :)
back in bus driving school my lover, Ed, had epilespy. We loved... alot, but his mental disabilities put us in a pretzel, or pickle.

No, it means just what you said. I don't think you are mentally disabled. Disabled is a pretty strong term. I think you sound very positive and willing to do your own thing. Good for you.

I've never heard that before. What does your doctor say about it? I wouldn't think it would make you-mentally- disabled, maybe physically, but i'm not a doctor. I'd ask a doctor. Any doctors in the house?

Epilepsy is a neurological condition. I don't think that's the same as being mentally disabled. Best wishes to you.♥

Epilepsy is a physical condition not a mental or emotional one.

By ADA standards I would say yes. The test is "does it affect your normal life activities?" My brother is epileptic and even though medication helps there is still a chance he could have one while driving. He doesn't drive-a normal life activity.
