I'm throwing a semi-formal(not black-tie) New Year's party and I'm starting to plan out the detaIls. I don't know what to serve as far as food. Any suggestions?

It will start around 6 or 7 PM. I was thinking of doing a wide variety of appetizers.

You don't mention the time of day, which is important. If it begins around 6pm, your guests will expect a sit down dinner or buffet. If it starts later, Then Appetizers. You can go chips and dips, or bake some. Also, if your not a culinary artist, in the frozen section of most markets (and all Costcos) have frozen and pre made appetizers. Just heat and eat. Nuts, bite sized desserts, cheese sticks, all that stuff. If you want something a little nice, serve it all with some mulled cider and wine. A veggie tray and a cold cut tray would be nice too. If you want to be fancy, you can pick up or rent a chocolate fountain for about 30 dollars. And a champagne fountain, too. :)

Will you be serving a dinner, a buffet, or just appetizers?
