Try circulation problem. The heart has to pump nice warm blood around the body, however it has to pass to the extremities arms, legs, whereupon it cools and then returns. If the extremities get achy sounds as if you are not getting the blood back fast enough to the heart. As you state it still aches when covered that rules out Raynard's, so check your blood pressure or just keep moving, take up a good cardio vascular exercise.

Pain killers don't treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds.
