This problem stems from the "Your with us or against us" mentality that leaves no room for a third option. Do I support the initial reasons for being here? No. There was never any link between Iraq and 9-11. Iraq UAV program that was "designed for WMDs" never had the capeability to do anything other have a video camera strapped to it for recon. Now the dispute of Iraq and Al-Queda being allied, we'll never know becaues that sort of information would truely be classified to protect whatever asset discovered that info, it it was true.
Was it good that we liberated Iraq and removed a dictator form power that gassed his own people? Yes that is a good thing, though I think there are areas int he world that deserve are attention more then Iraq.
Now that we are here, I got mixed feelings on it. I dont believe that the insurgents will follow us to the United States. Most of the ones we fight down here are fighting against us because we are already here and it is convient. Most dont have the resources or a support base within the US to perform sustained operations. With that said, do you pull out and let everything we put into this country go to waste for another dictator ro roll in? I dont like the idea of those that sacraficed their lives down here to be forgoten because the going got tuff.

Oh, I'm sure there are a few.
But...the same question could be reversed: How many people who are "gung ho" regarding the war in Iraq have been there?
The way I look at it (and this is going to sound pretty angry) is there are too many armchair generals in our country...from BOTH sides!
We should be listening to our soldiers and to the Iraqis. No one else. That's what I've been doing...and I'm not for or against the war.
We civilians are ignorant of what it's really like over there...and thank goodness there are brave men and women to go, so we don't have to!

Me!!!!!!!! (But I would say I disapointed by this and loath it)
You asked, I answered.
By the way, you say that anybody that hates the war is brain damaged. Well anybody that doesn't hate the war in your logic must love it. (If-so facto, love and hate are linked emotions, you can't have one without the other)
Anybody that loves war is brain damaged.
Most people join the military, to protect their country, freedom and way of life. Military service is a preventative measure, no sane person actually wants to go to war, but we are of the understanding that sometimes the need is real, and the job has to be done.
I hate this war because I have not lost my morals, cannot be swayed by propaganda, and still have the ability to reason things out for myself.

There are some who serve and have served that are not in favor of this war. That being said, I am not amongst them. Of my Soldiers I would say that roughly 80-90% of them support the war. Not too many of them want to go back but they are willing to.

You can love your country and still be against war. You can be a soldier and love your country. I am against the Iraq war because it is just a war of opportunity for Bush and his fatcat war industry Friends. Being against the war does not mean you don't support our troops.
I am a Viet Nam Vet, USMC 1967-1973

I serve the US Constitution & its Country.
I serve the people of the US.
I don't agree nor do I serve an ambiguous "spreading freedom" message by a barrel of a gun.
Someone help me remember some history from about 240ish years ago. Did our founding forefathers get told to accept freedom by a foreign entity or did they do it themselves? I can't remember.....

I have two friends that served, one that went back over for blackwater. Both detest the war and love the country. Nice try narrow minded fool. I'm pretty sure you can love your country and be against a war. Were you for Vietnam by chance? If so then that just shows how smart you really are.

This USAF veteran is against the war in iraq.
If you're such a strong war supporter, why aren't you over there fighting?

By your own limited rationale, you should also be "quite." The correct word is quiet, by the way. Resting on the laurels of your friend's supposed service doesn't give you any more right to speak than it does someone who hasn't served. Grow up.
