Joe is the defendant named on a valid non-contact,protective order issued in the state of Iowa. This particular order was issued by a stste Distric Associate ,or Magistrate Court. It prohibits Joe from having any form of contact with Sally,the petitioner of the order and his estrange wife. Joe and Sally are stopped for a traffic violation in Sturgis South Dakota while riding in a vehicle owned by Sally.The patrol officer discovers a photocopy of the protective order mixed in with the vehicle's registration documents. When questioned out of the presence of Joe,Sally states that the order is still valid but that he is in her company at her invitation. what should the officer do .

Arrest both of them for violating the order. The order does not say stay away unless invited. Sally does not have the authority to override the order.
This prevents the restrained person from coercing the protected person.
