Okay... I know chefs paint their pies with something to make them really shiny when they're done. What is it?

egg wash.

Just beat an egg and brush some of it over your pie crust, cookies, etc. If you use just the egg yolk it will be extra shiny!

Plain granulated sugar!

Or dust with powdered sugar!
