I know "thoughts of suicide" is a symptom of depression and I do think about it a lot..probably daily. But I never actually plan it out or anything.

I'm 17. I do a LOT of philosophical thinking, though. And I'm introverted. So I think that has a lot to do with it. The thoughts mostly occur when I'm stressed/overwhelmed.

I was suicidally depressed for 7 years and had it totally planned , until my Doctor ran a blood test on my thyroid. As it turns out I have an under active Thyroid. In ONE month on Thyroid medication the depression was totally gone.

See your Doctor and get tested, it is simple and one tiny pill a day.

Good Luck

It's not normal for me. I've had thoughts before, but very rarely. Usually I feel trapped during those times. Like something bad is happening and I can't stop it. Or I'm stuck in a low place and can't seem to get out of it. Maybe if I was in those states of mind normally, i would think about suicide normally.

One thing that has helped me is to "count my blessings". Start with the fact that air is free and go from there.

As we go through our day and we put our thoughts on certain things, that means those things interest us, especially if we think of them often.

You do have a choice whether you want to think about that or not. If you feel you do not have a choice about it and that thought is running you instead of you running it, I would definitely talk to a counselor.

I really don't know what normal is, people are so variable, but, I would say it was dangerous to set your mind in that direction.

You can cross that off your thoughts list. You can make that something you just don't "go to". A counselor can help you do that. You have the power to do it you just may not know how.

I don't think it's abnormal - everyone has thought about it from time to time. How old are you though (I'm 30)? Think about it - there's somebody, probably a lot of people, who are related to you and for them a part of them would die w/ you and there's never any real healing for them so please try to think about that. Lot's of people - myself included - think about it from time to time, but no matter how bad it gets I could never ever do that to my mom.
EDIT - It's ok to feel bad and suicidal I was exactly the same when I was your age. You sound like a female version of me! Yes our personality type is like that; just repeat after me: I won't get so wrapped up in myself that I can't see how much eveyone around me loves me.

Well, my mom is a doctor and she said it may be from all of the stress you are under (then it is normal) but if u are toally stress free then maybe you should go see a coucler(not to be mean or anything)

why are you thinking about it? Are you under stress or having problems? No, it isn't healthy. I'd talk to someone you trust like a clergyperson, teacher, parents, etc.

suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

I don't think its normal at all, in fact its abnormal to think of taking ones life, unless your under the influence of a drug of somesort., or perhaps backed into a corner and can't get out somehow, trust me it's very abnormal to consider it. And its really a cowards way out of responsibility.

no it's not normal. that doesn't stop it being fairly common, but still, if you're considering/thinking a lot about suicide, it would be in your best interests to seek help
