How long should you be with someone before you marry them?

When you have accepted someone for who they are, 110% and you are totally convinced that you cannot live without them. Accepting someone 110% means you accept with faults and all; not expecting them to change at all.

It really all depends on you. Are you ready to marry him? I work at a resort so I get to meet all kinds of people. I've met some couples that knew each other for 2 days before they got married and have been married for 10+ years. I've met others that knew each other for years and lived together for a while before they got married. There is no right or wrong answer. If you know that you are ready to marry him, then do it.

It depends on how well you know each other. Some people are very open about who they are and spend a lot of time together. You may get to know someone like this very quickly. Others are very aloof and the couples may not see each other much. I would say, of the former, a minimum of a year and the later, 5 years. You have to make the determination how well you know each other. Also, the "high" of being in love usually wears off in about 18 months. You should make sure still LIKE each other after this high wears off.

There is no magic timetable.
Just make sure that you can not live without the person and that you are soul mates.
I know one couple who married after a week and are still married more than 50 years later. and their is one couple I know who were gf/bf for 7 years, had a child together and finally got married and was applying for a divorce in less than 30 days.
Personally, I dated mine 6 years and we are still together after 20+ years.
It is an individual decision.

My parents met on a Wednesday, were engaged on Saturday, and got married 3 months later. They were married for 36 years before my mom passed away.

I "knew" my husband for about 7 months before we got married. Turned out, he was married in Paraguay with two kids. I've been with my fiancee for 2 years now, and we set the date for August 8th of next year. There's NO reason to rush. The more you rush, I think that the less convinced you are about whatever it is you are planning on doing.

Good luck, though!

there is no set answer to this question. I guess get married when it feels right! But you have to be sure that it really is 'right'...not just that initial madly in love feeling that can fade fast if it isn't real. Thats why people suggest being together at least a year so you can really get to know the other person!

at least an hour!
i don't really think it matters, as long as you feel that connection that is impossible to describe.

my grandparents have been married for 51 years and knew each other for 2 weeks before they got married. i knew my ex husband for 5 years before we got married, and our marriage lasted less than a year.

If you have to ask, then the answer is definitely NO.
Usually after two to three years of serious dating, a mature couple knows if they want to be married or not.
